The founder of Life Model Works, he is an expert on the intersection of theology and brain science. Today I’m grateful to have my friend Dr. Vania Manipod on the Faith and Mental Wellness Podcast sharing about managing anxiety and OCD during COVID-19. As we are still navigating the road ahead through uncertainty, we wanted to discuss how today’s conditions may uniquely affect living with anxiety and OCD, particularly when it comes to obsessions & compulsions around contamination.
Dr. Vania Manipod, D.O., is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. She believes in a holistic and integrative approach to psychiatry that incorporates psychotherapeutic techniques, diet, and lifestyle, in addition to medication management, when indicated. Dr. Manipod is also a writer, speaker, and medical expert featured in various publications and TV shows, and also built an international following on social media to promote mental health via her Instagram @freudandfashion and blog freudandfashion.com.

Lately I’ve been taking some steps back, reorienting myself to adjust to new changes, finding solitude and grounding within my own internal life, putting necessary online boundaries in place, looking at credible research and thinking critically about how to approach the many conversations taking place right now.
It’s overwhelming. There’s both a health crisis and a mental health crisis taking place. The anxiety of an unknown future rises. It holds hands with the depression of isolation. Our survival instincts have been heightened and we’re grieving a lost sense of normalcy.
It’s reasonable if you’re having a hard time mentally finding your grounding right now. We’ve been put in a position our generation has never been in before where we have to find adaptable ways to cope on a mass scale.
So what are some of the top tips mental health professionals are recommending during this time? Tune in...

Today on the podcast we’re having a real conversation about the journey of faith, mental health and infertility with my friend and therapist Alex Thompson, who was so gracious about sharing her lived experience. I appreciate that this episode is filled with both honesty and practical nuggets of healing wisdom. Please feel free to share with anyone who may benefit from this conversation.
Alexandra Thompson, LCSW is the Counseling Director of Cumberland Counseling Services, a counseling practice inside of Cumberland Community Church just outside of Atlanta, GA. She is in the beginning stages of trying to integrate clinical counseling centers into every church in America! In addition, Alex and her husband have a precious baby boy named Anders whom they adopted at 5 days old. She struggles with unexplained infertility, tried to get pregnant with her husband for 3 years before meeting their son, and she has a huge heart for adoption advocacy.
