To many people’s surprise, the judge overseeing the Fulton County RICO case ruled Friday that DA Fani Willis would not be disqualified from the case (so long as the man she was having an affair with stepped down). Meaning that in order to remain on the case, all Fani Willis had to do was fire Nathan Wade—after she had already paid him a cool $600,000 in taxpayers’ money. In the 23-page ruling, Judge Scott McAfee did not exactly mince his words. Instead, he wrote that either Willis or Wade would have to go because the entire case now has an “odor of mendacity”—meaning it reeks of untruthfulness. And lo, within hours of the judge’s ruling being made public, Nathan Wade resigned from his position as special prosecutor.
