The saying goes, "Variety is the spice of life" but your spice rack could actually hold the key to a healthier life.  While spices help to add great flavor to our food, research shows they can also improve our overall health, extend our lifespan,  and even prevent or heal diseases.

By a certain age, most of us have a certain degree of chronic inflammation. Dr. Melina Jampolis' new book Spice Up, Live Long, shares what we can do to help reduce this internal inflammation using herbs and spices. Topics discussed include how to store spices so they stay fresh, when to throw them out, growing your own and drying herbs, how to incorporate spices and the best options for your overall health.    

Dr. Melina Jampolis is an internist and board-certified physician nutrition specialist (one of only several hundred practicing in the United States) and is the immediate past president of the National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. Trained as an internist, for the past 15 years she has specialized exclusively in nutrition for weight loss, disease prevention, and treatment.
