Spiegel & Holmes Show

Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel opened their show by welcoming on Audacy Sports insider and former Bulls forward Brian Scalabrine to discuss the NBA Finals and whether point guard Lonzo Ball would be a good fit in Chicago. Also, how bad were those MLB All-Star Game jerseys Tuesday night? They had quite the opposite effect if the point was to make sure the casual fan knows who these guys are.

In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel reflected back on their partnership. Remember the old Spiegel & Parkins Show? It was much different than this show. With producer Chris Tannehill out this week, we're playing old opens from that show. Then, why haven’t we heard any substantiated trade rumors? It seems like those are coming much later than usual. Also, Popeyes has announced a new item. As the official show of the chicken, it's our duty to respond.

Later, Parkins and Spiegel discussed how the USA basketball team has yet to win an exhibition game during this Olympic season. Is that a cause for concern?

In the second hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel welcomed on Flula Borg, a German comedian and the show's international American sports correspondent. He broke down the Home Run Derby. The guy absolutely hated the fact that no one ran around the bases. Then, we played a new game we’re calling "Categories." There are four categories. We name things in those categories.

Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel opened their show by discussing a big achievement for the crew. We did it! We got Spiegs’ kid to get into gambling on baseball before Spiegs did. Also, the Home Run Derby was Monday evening. It featured baseballs signed by every hitter. Imagine catching a home run ball autographed by the guy who whacked it. Could we make that a regular occurrence during the season?

Later, the guys discussed Cubs catcher Willson Contreras calling his teammates out for a lack of effort in a loss to the Cardinals on Saturday. It seems that the nearing of Cubs core's expiration date has stressed them out.

Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel opened their show with Parkins wondering why he's even working this week, as he usually takes the MLB All-Star break off. That led to a discussion about gambling on the Home Run Derby, which is all that's on Monday evening.

In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel were joined by Cubs television voice Jon "Boog" Sciambi to answer this question: Why isn't the Marquee Sports Network crew traveling to road games? Also, the guys reacted to Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer addressing the team's recent 11-game losing streak in speaking to the media for the first time in a while. How will it reconfigure the Cubs' approach moving forward?
