Spin the Reel

Welcome back Reel Friends! Last week, our hosts Alex and Walker landed on the category of Dude Flicks. For a couple of dudes themselves, they had a plethora of movies in mind that they could choose from. At the end of the day, Waiting... seemed like a great choice. "Staffers at the restaurant Shenaniganz engage in various pranks and games -- both on and off the clock. However, in the course of one day, waiter Dean (Justin Long) must choose to either accept a promotion to manager or go off in search of greener pastures. Meanwhile, his co-worker and roommate, Monty (Ryan Reynolds), fights temptation in the form of an underage colleague, while showing a new employee (John Francis Daley) the ins and outs, providing him the worst first day of his life." With an impressive cast list like this, there's a huge chance that not o0nly will this film be a host favorite, but  a Dude Flick through and through. Want to know more? Welcome back Reel Friends! This week, your hosts Alex and Walker were gifted with the task of finding a movie that isn't the best to watch with your parents. Raunchy, dirty, and downright cringey were some of the attributes they looked for to choose their film of the week. This lead them to the class 2003 film, Old School. "Three friends attempt to recapture their glory days by opening up a fraternity near their alma mater." A fraternity movie? Yeah, watching that with your parents is never a good idea. Ready for some laughs? Then sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!

Welcome back Reel Friends! Last week, Alex and Walker were given the category of Silent Films. Since they're not as popular as they once were, our hosts took the time to think this one out carefully. Finally, they landed on the amazing classic (that is almost 100 years old??) Nosferatu. This silent horror film depicts the story of the vampire Count Orlok, who expresses interest in a new residence and real estate agent Hutter's wife. Taking on a similar plot to Dracula, this film will keep you on the edge of your seat! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel.

Welcome back Reel Friends! Last week, our hosts were given an exciting category from the Reel Of Fate; Great Cast, Weak Movie. Alex and Walker took to the internet to find a movie that fit the category without their own bias intervening. A resounding answer was found in their sleuthing, and Movie 43 seemed to be the best choice. Just to name a few, this movie has a cast including Elizabeth Banks, Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Johnny Knoxville, and Halle Berry. That's just the tip of the iceberg! How could a movie filled with A-List actors flop so hard with a 4.3 rating on IMDb, and a metascore of 18???? Our hosts will lay it all out for you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!

After some talk of their favorite "chick flick" movies, the duo decided on one of Alex's favorite movies, never seen by Walker, Mean Girls! Welcome back Reel Friends! On last week's episode, Alex and Walker were gifted the category of Movies Ahead Of Their Time. With a few movies in mind, the duo inevitably landed on an Alfred Hitchcock classic, Psycho. "Phoenix office worker Marion Crane is fed up with the way life has treated her. She has to meet her lover Sam in lunch breaks, and they cannot get married because Sam has to give most of his money away in alimony. One Friday, Marion is trusted to bank forty thousand dollars by her employer. Seeing the opportunity to take the money and start a new life, Marion leaves town and heads towards Sam's California store. Tired after the long drive and caught in a storm, she gets off the main highway and pulls into the Bates Motel. The motel is managed by a quiet young man called Norman who seems to be dominated by his mother". In this horrifying thriller, we see never before used camera effects and shooting styles that put this film on the frontline of innovation. Want to know more? Welcome back Reel Friends! Last week, Alex and Walker stumbled on quite an intriguing category; One Hit Wonder Actor Movies. After giving it some thought, reading WAY too many terrible lists, and almost losing their heads, our intrepid hosts fought their way to the grand conclusion of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! The biggest reason for this decision is because main character Charlie Bucket was played by Peter Ostrum. Peter is only credited on IMDb for this movie, and afterwords left Hollywood's fame and fortune to become a veterinarian! What a wonderful role to have, especially it being his only one. As well as being a classic and favorite of our hosts, this movie also fit the category perfectly. Excited to hear the conclusion? Then sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!
