Welcome back Reel Friends! We're kicking off November with an absolute masterpiece of a film. At the end of our last spooky episode of the season, our hosts Alex and Walker returned to their run of the mill wheel and were gifted the category of Movies Based On Real Events. Not too long ago, the boys did an episode on biopics. Keeping that in mind, they wanted a movie that focused more on an event, as opposed to one singular person. This lead our hosts to choose the 2015 Best Picture winner, Spotlight. "In 2001, editor Marty Baron of The Boston Globe assigns a team of journalists to investigate allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys. Led by editor Walter "Robby" Robinson (Michael Keaton), reporters Michael Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo), Matt Carroll and Sacha Pfeiffer interview victims and try to unseal sensitive documents. Welcome back Reel Friends! A bittersweet episode this week, as we are finishing our Spooky Month categories this week! We've had loads of fun getting these Halloween specials together for you, and your hosts hit it out of the park with this week's choice. Alex and Walker were given the category of Foreign Horror. This was a category made for our resident horror buff Alex, and he had quite the list for the two of them to choose from. Eventually the two landed on the 1999 Japanese film Audition. "This disturbing Japanese thriller follows Aoyama (Ryo Ishibashi), a widower who decides to start dating again. Aided by a film-producer friend (Jun Kunimura), Aoyama uses auditions for a fake production to function as a dating service. When Aoyama becomes intrigued by the withdrawn, gorgeous Asami (Eihi Shiina), they begin a relationship. This Coen brother film is a wonderful tale, resembling the story of Homer's The Odyssey.
