Spin the Reel

Welcome back Reel Friends! This week, our hosts Alex and Walker had to choose a movie that had a very misleading trailer. After talking over some options, the duo decided on a film with a very misleading trailer indeed; The Cabin In The Woods. "When five college friends (Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams) arrive at a remote forest cabin for a little vacation, little do they expect the horrors that await them. One by one, the youths fall victim to backwoods zombies, but there is another factor at play." In this 2011 horror comedy, the twists are never ending and leave you on the edge of your seat every step of the way. Want to know more? Welcome back Reel Friends! This week, our hosts Alex and Walker took on the daunting task of finding a movie for their new category, Remakes That Are Better Than The Original. With opinions at full force, the two decided on and old favorite of Alex's; The Fly. Released in 1986, this remake directed by David Cronenberg follows "scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) who completes his teleportation device. and he decides to test its abilities on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a housefly slips in during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Initially, Brundle appears to have undergone a successful teleportation, but the fly's cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Brundle's girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster." Want to know how this twisted drama unfolds? Welcome back Reel Friends! Last week, the category of strong female leads was presented to our hosts, and they were excited to get started. Both Alex and Walker named off some amazing movies with fantastic roles, and eventually landed on Terminator 2: Judgement Day for Linda Hamilton's role as the daring and strong Sarah Connor. "In this sequel set eleven years after "The Terminator," young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the key to civilization's victory over a future robot uprising, is the target of the shape-shifting T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a Terminator sent from the future to kill him. Another Terminator, the revamped T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), has been sent back to protect the boy. As John and his mother (Linda Hamilton) go on the run with the T-800, the boy forms an unexpected bond with the robot." Sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!

Welcome back Reel Friends! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!! Episode 40 came like a shot in the dark, and our hosts landed on a fantastic category for y'all this week. Over the months they've been doing the show, Alex and Walker have kept track of all the movies you, our listeners, have suggested for different categories. Finally, the Reel of Fate gifted our boys the category of Listener's Choice! This is a category the duo have wanted to do for some time now, and they finally got the chance. Instead of choosing themselves, they made a secondary wheel to help guide them to the right movie. This week's movie choice was Blade! In this 1998 film starring the one and only Wesley Snipes, we follow a half-vampire, half-mortal man who becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires. This action packed vampire movie was the perfect way for our hosts to start off their week, and for episode 40! Want to hear more? Then sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!
