EARTH DAY MINDFULNESS TIPS & MEDITATION (22 min.)
In today's episode I share mindfulness tips on how we can take care of our planet, in honor of Earth Day. There is silent meditation near the end of this episode.
CHECK-IN: Before and after each practice check in and rate your stress level from 0 - 5. Did the number change after your meditation?
0 = low
5 = high
3x3 EARTH DAY TIPS
Think of THREE ways you can REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE to care for our planet. Here are a few simple ideas to create habits which respect Mother Nature. Each tip also saves you money.😊
REDUCE
1. water: turn off faucet when brushing teeth, landscape with drought-tolerant plants
2. carbon footprint: walk, bike, plan drives to reduce fuel consumption
3. mindless eating: mindfully choose & prepare nourishing foods for your body, mind, & soul. cook at home. eat with gratitude. pause, taste, savor. there are mental, emotional & spiritual benefits when you mindfully prepare & share meals as a communal, family activity.
REUSE
1. ziploc bags - reuse for food, organize items in your purse or suitcase. explore alternatives to ziploc bags to reduce plastic.
2. cleaning cloths - instead of using disposable paper towels, they can easily get thrown into a load of laundry as needed.
3. grocery bags - unload your groceries then put them back in your car for reuse.
RECYCLE
1. plastic - use recycle bins. think reuse before recycle. save what can be used for shipping, packing, sorting, or storage.
2. glass - use recycle bins. reuse if the container can serve another purpose.
3. thrift - it's springtime! clear out your closets & have a clothing swap party with friends or donate to a local thrift store. thrift before buying new.
