  • The High Lord- Episode 11
We are at an end. Please, a round of applause to Ashleigh for commissioning this entire series from beginning to end. What a supporter! Ashleigh, you're a treasure and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I have to admit that this ending wasn't what I was hoping for. There were a number of things that were just not wrapped up at all, or at least not in a satisfactory way. And it also seemed like the author was in a rush to wrap it up, so there were ideas presented that weren't pursued at all.
I'm very curious to hear what you all thought of the finale of this series! Let me know!

  • Charmed Life- Episode 3
Thank you to Patricia for commissioning this episode!
Things are really beginning to heat up here as Cat wakes up to find that Gwendolyn has somehow departed for another world, and left in her place a version of herself from yet a different world still. She was so upset by how she was being treated that she decided to bail entirely. I can't help but try to make a connection between this book and Dark Lord Of Derkholm and wonder if Gwendolyn is part of that other story somehow.
I'm in a way really relieved that Gwen is gone, and yet at the same time I hate how much poor Janet has to put up with in Gwen's place. But I have a feeling that as much as they try to hide it, everyone is aware that Janet isn't Gwen.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Saga- Episode 3
Hidey-ho, neighbors! Let's all give Maccewill a hand for commissioning another episode of coverage of this bonkers comic series.
This episode I'm covering Chapters 7, 8 & 9, and there's a lot of new stuff coming up that changes the look of some other factors we already knew about. For example, Gwen suddenly appears and it turns out that her previously tender feelings for Marko have turned murderous. But honestly I still like her and I'm low-key shipping her and The Will.
Meanwhile, Marko's parents are not exactly presenting a united front in their treatment of Alana, and that's probably due to the fact that his dad is secretly dying and so wants to do all he can to keep his kid happy and safe before he kicks off.
    Also, troll balls.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Deadwood, S01E11- Jewel's Boot Is Made For Walkin
Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode of Deadwood, along with all the others!
This episode we get a new player in town, and he's a real shady character. Alma's father arrives in town, allegedly to "assist" her, and it seems pretty clear to everyone that he does not have his daughter's best interests at heart. Alma herself seems to suspect it, although I think she puts a lot of it down to him not having respect for her because she's a woman. I think it's more than that.
Also, there's a lot of focus on Jewel in this episode, who is simply a delightful character and I really love what they're doing with her. She goes to Doc Cochran to ask for his help with something that could make walking easier, and I'm very hopeful about that.
Thank you all again for listening, and I will be seeing you again soon with a new episode!

  • Veronica Mars, S02E04- Green-Eyed Monster
Hello everyone! Let's all say thanks to Agnes for commissioning this episode like a true hero.
This episode we've got a few revelations happening, from the fact that Duncan has been visiting Meg on the DL ever since the accident, to the fact that Wallace's father is actually alive and in fact standing in the driveway. I don't know what happened between that man and Alicia, but I'm going to go ahead and trust her judgement on this one because she seems like a pretty sensible woman.
I don't really understand Duncan's reticence in talking all of this over with Veronica though. I think that he's behaving as if she'd be jealous, which in turn is bound to create jealousy that might not have been there otherwise. And speaking of which, there's a case of the week in which jealousy plays a huge role as well.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Sabriel- Episode 1
Many many thanks to Abbey for commissioning the first chapters of Sabriel by Garth Nix! I'm very excited to be getting into this whole new world with its strange rules and barriers between magical countries and non-magical ones.
The prologue of this book introduces us to Sabriel's father on the night of her birth, and we get to see firsthand how his particular brand of necromancy works. She and her mother should both have died, but Abhorsen manages to snag her up from the river of death before she passed through the first gate beyond his reach. But he runs into a creepy creature called Kerrigor and I don't doubt that will be coming back up again.
Then there's a time jump and we get to meet a teenage Sabriel who is at a school that feels shockingly modern considering the vibe of the world we saw in the prologue. She's a rare sort of dual-citizen, and when it looks like her father is in trouble, she packs her bags and heads into the Old Kingdom to find out what happened to him.
I'm very into it, and excited to read more! Thanks so much Abbey!

  • The High Lord- Episode 10
Many thanks to Ashleigh for commissioning this series! We're almost completely done and it's crazy to me how fast it all went!
These chapters are fun because some things come back around to roost. It turns out that Regin is still around, and I find it highly amusing that Cery remembers exactly who he is after everything. I'm totally here for this, and could have done with a bit more to be honest.
The attacks by the Ichani in this section were pretty rough, and we wind up losing one of our best guys; Lorlen is caught under hte wreckage of a collapsed building, and Akkarin only just gets there in time to say goodbye and get the absolution of his friend before he passes away.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

  • Derry Girls- Episode 3
May thanks again to Ashleigh for commissioning this show! I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
I really tend to hate shows and movies that depend on everything going wrong because they are very anxiety-inducing, at least to me. But for some reason this show manages to keep everything so funny and lighthearted, even when things go dreadfully terribly wrong , that I can't help but enjoy it despite myself.
This episode is all centered around Erin's dog Toto, who supposedly died but turns out to be quite alive and running around town with a crotchety old woman named Mrs. Malarkey. One things leads to another, and as usual our crew of scumbags winds up in over their heads, lying about a miracle and getting on the front page.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

  • Deadwood, S01E10- Mister Wu
Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode, which is going down a road that makes me really sad. I admire the show for facing off with the realities of racism in this era, but damn is it hard to watch.
This episode starts with Mister Wu being furious that someone murdered one of his couriers and stole his shipment of opium. He wants recompense, not only in his stolen goods but in the lives of the two men who killed his employee. Unfortunately, because white people are trash, whether Wu's complaint is legitimate or not is irrelevant. Al knows that turning over two white men to an Asian man is going to be seen as a betrayal by the other whites in the camp, and he has to walk a tightrope between what's going to keep the peace with Wu and keep the peace with everyone else.
There's a lot else happening in this episode but I'm going to leave it there for now. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

  • The Fifth Season- Episode 7
Many thanks to Megan Tolentino for commissioning this episode covering The Fifth Season, a book that I have been dying to read more of.
I'm really blown away by the reveal that Syenite and Damaya are the same person. I should have known, or guessed, or suspected at least, but it sincerely never entered my head and I'm completely floored by this connection in light of the fact that Syenite now seems to have a strange affinity for the obelisks.
I'm totally at a loss when it comes to what I think that socket is all about, and I can't help but wonder if it's good news or bad news for the Orogenes. It's so tempting to assume it's good news, but...what if it's not?
Thank you again to Megan, and I hope to see you all again soon with a new episode!
