  • The Fifth Season- Episode 9
Wow, y'all. I can't believe this book is over. Thank you so much to Ashlynn for wrapping this up and getting me to read one of the more important novels (I think) in recent memory.
This is a huge story and of course it's not even close to wrapped by the time the book ends. I didn't expect it to be. But I am still a little surprised at how many things were left hanging, and I am absolutely dying to know what happens. There are so many new factors to consider, like what the hell the deal is with the stone eaters. And how the hell did Alabaster start to turn into one of them? I'm baffled.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I hope to see you soon with the start of the next book in the Broken Earth Trilogy!

  • Sabriel- Episode 2
Thank you so much to Abbey for commissioning this episode!
I've been really enjoying this book so far. These chapters are absolutely packed, with Sabriel crossing the border into Old Kingdom and beginning her long journey. She comes across a few things that signal all is not well, from a terrible scene of frozen, headless dead bodies (complete with audio recording of the attack), and then a broken Charter Marker that was cracked with some really gruesome magic that only a maniac would attempt.
Then, after Sabriel manages to kill a horrible undead corpse-creature, she starts getting chased by something called a Mordicant. Good lord! She's forced to run flat-out until she literally collapses on the doorstep of her old house. Damn, she's going through a lot.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Deadwood, S02E04- Requiem For A Gleet
Thank you so much to Patrick for commissioning this episode!
So it looks like Al is going to come out on the other side of this, which I didn't really doubt but it was still tense to watch. I just love how the show has decided to sideline him while still using this as a character study instead of an excuse to get lazy with plotting. The way that everyone just hovers in the Gem waiting for something, anything to happen...it is really telling.
I really can't imagine what the hell is going on with Miss Isringhausen, and does she actually know Silas from earlier or is she just busting in there with this bizarre story? I have no idea what to make of her.
Thank you so much for listening, everyone, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Veronica Mars, S02E05- Blast From The Past
Many thanks to Renee for commissioning this episode!
So everyone, I'm going to just rant for a while during this episode about how much I hate Jackie, and I hope that you all will indulge me on this. She is the absolute worst and I'm really hoping that maybe we get a break from her for a while now that Wallace has run off with his dad. Although I could see his sudden disappearance making her panic and come to Veronica for help...assuming she gives enough of a shit. I'm kind of guessing she doesn't.
In other news, Veronica shows her father the recording proving that there was something going on, and although this could be used to save his ass and win the election, Keith decides that he's going to turn it in to Lamb, and I wish he fucking wouldn't.
Thanks all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Deadwood, S02E03- New Money
Hey everyone! Thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode, in which we have a new piece added to the chessboard.
I'm so worried about Francis Wolcott, you guys. He's just really good at playing someone who has all of this simmering violence and rage right under the surface, and while he doesn't actually go off on any of the women in this particular episode it feels like it could happen at ANY second. The tension is unbelievable, and I'm dreading the moment it breaks.
Also, in this episode we have the argument between Alma and Miss Isringhausen, which is super unpleasant. Alma is just kind of angry at the world in general and is taking it out on this poor woman who doesn't have any other prospects, and it's actually pretty gross. I hate seeing this side of Alma.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will be seeing you soon with a new episode!

  • Derry Girls- Episode 4
Hey there, beautiful people! I'm here with the next episode of Derry Girls, thanks to Ashleigh!
This episode was so friggin weird and I really love how much the era the show is set in plays into the main plot points. Clearly, they didn't just plan to set it in the 90s because they felt like showcasing some bad fashion and great music; they wanted to tell some really specific stories.
This episode focused on some exchange students from the Ukraine who were victims of the Chernobyl disaster. Everyone in Derry thinks that those kids live in some kind of backwoods no-mans-land, but the Ukranian kids are less impressed with Derry than could be desired. I am a big fan of this whole bizarre story.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • The Fifth Season- Episode 8
Many thanks to Jason for commissioning this episode, the penultimate episode of The Fifth Season, one of the most intensely emotional books I've read in a long time.
This episode, we find out that Syenite and Essun are indeed the same person, which was a theory that I sort of let drop because I assumed that the author wouldn't play the same "trick" a second time. I use the word "trick" even though that really cheapens what she's done here because it's really the easiest way to say that I was too stupid to notice something.
Also, there's a huge time jump so at this point she's got a child and a whole new life going on. And we know because of what happens later with Essun that this doesn't last, and I'm not excited about finding out about that.
Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you all again soon with the final episode!

  • Deadwood S02E02- A Lie Agreed Upon, Part 2
Another round of applause to Patrick for commissioning these episodes!
I'm going to be honest with y'all here; there are a few things in this episode that confused me, and if anyone's got some light to shed on the subject, I'm all ears. I won't get into it here, but listen in and you will hear the moments. Patrick was in the chat and helped me out a few times, but there were a couple things I'm not sure even he knew.
This episode mostly deals with Seth and Alma having to decide whether they're going to flee the camp together and dump all of their responsibilities on someone else, or if they're going to put one another aside and soldier on with their duties. In the end they come to their senses and see that running is the most selfish possible thing they could do, but it's super painful nonetheless and I feel for them both.
Also, Al is not doing too well health-wise, between whatever's going on in his downstairs and getting thrown off the damn balcony. He winds up having to deal with the long-awaited showdown (in a way) between Dan and Silas, and it's kind of adorable and also kind of pathetic.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

  • Deadwood, S02E01- A Lie Agreed Upon, Part 1
Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode and the next one together so that I got to watch them one right after the other! I want to warn you all that if anyone has been watching along with me for the first time, to avoid being spoiled you're going to want to watch parts 1 & 2 before listening to this episode.
This is quite a start to the season, with a time jump of about 6 months that leads to all kinds of visible changes in the camp. The place is growing, there are more people in and out, and later we see that Seth has even built a whole damn house. A house to welcome his wife and son, who unexpectedly arrive just as Seth is about to be stabbed in the back, and probably save his life.
In other news, Seth and Alma have been carrying on a raucous affair that clearly the whole town knows about, and it's super duper embarassing when she tries to bring a basket over to greet Martha and William. What a painful scene omg.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will be following this episode shortly with the next!

  • Deadwood, S01E12- Sold Under Sin
Oh boy, i can't believe we're already at the end of the first season. Y'all, I'm so fucking pleased with this finale and I want to give Patrick a giant hug for commissioning the entire damn season. This show is so good and I want everyone to watch it.
There are a lot of elements that make this show wonderful, and I know I already talk about it too much, but the chemistry between Alma and Seth is OFF. THE. CHAIN. and I cannot tell you how I cheered when they finally hooked up. Yes yes yes, it's wrong and he's married, but like...I don't care.
Also, the little side plot between Doc and Jewel is wrapped up so sweetly and I love how the show is handling her. I wish that those two would become a couple a little bit. I'm shipping everyone, what can I say.
I know that Alma's father is going to come back to haunt us, but watching him get decked in the face was so satisfying that whatever the consequences are, they'll be worth it.
Thank you all so much for listening, and thank you again to Patrick for the commission!
