  • Deadwood, S01E03- Reconnoitering The Rim
Thank you very much to Patrick for commissioning this episode!
This episode is mostly about how Al Swearengen fucks up everyone's lives with his incredible greed and paranoia, and I'm sad to see that Alma is losing her husband, even if her husband is kind of beneath her in terms of intelligence and probably in terms of grace, too. He's been good and swindled, or at least it appears so, until Dority appears to have found a vein of gold on the land right where he killed the owner.
Also there's Seth, who is getting more and more attached to Wild Bill, and it's touching in a manly sort of way to see the way the two of them make hesitant attempts to be friends. I really like the way everything with the little girl is being handled, and I kinda love Jane TBH.
Thanks so much for listening, everyone and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Veronica Mars S02E01- Normal Is The Watchword
Hey there everyone! I'm finally coming at you with the bananas premier of Season 2 of Veronica Mars, in which I'm blown away by the huge changes that have already taken place off cameras. Things are DIFFERENT, y'all!
First of all, that conflict between Logan and Weevil went way left, and Logan woke up with a knife in his hand next to a man who'd been stabbed to death. By the time the season starts, the trial is already over and he's been let off, but the damage the trial has done to the fabric of the school is significant. People are really salty at the fact that Logan seems to have gotten away with murder just because he's a rich white boy, and Logan is disgusted at the fact that everyone wants to string him up for yet another thing he didn't do.
But it's not like Logan is Veronica's problem anymore, because lo and behold, she's with Duncan again! I am glad for it because Duncan is a Good Boy, but damn that complicates things.
And that's before we get to the part where half the fucking class has been murdered. O.O
Thanks so much for listening, and thanks to Jacqui for commissioning the episode!

  • The High Lord- Episode 3
So this is the episode where Sonea makes the decision to do something that she never thought she would ever be able to justify, and that is practice black magic.
I figured it was coming at this point, and the fact that Akkarin is showing her all about the conflict between Kyralia and Sechaka but doesn't expect her to want to step in feels a little disingenous to me. Like come on, dude, you know how she's going to react. Just hush and make a back-up plan for yourself.
Meanwhile there's this whole other massacre that has happened, and poor Lorlen has to cope with that while wondering if someone that he'd previously thought was his closest friend is the murderer. Between him dealing with this and Rothen watching Sonea grow more comfortable with Akkarin, everyone is dealing with some heavy emotional shit right now.
Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode, and I will see you soon with a new one!

  • Six Of Crows FINALE
Wow okay so where to begin on this one. I mean we can talk about the most obvious thing, which is pretty much just OMG INEJ NO! or we can talk about the fact that Wylan's dad is pure evil and poor Wylan is an abused boy, or we can talk about how NOBODY GETS FUCKIN PAID. All of which are totally valid.
Y'all I mean. Poor Nina takes what's essentially poison to boost her powers, and it's basically burning through her life force from the inside, but GHAT-DAMN does it fucking do some cool shit to her, and I'm low-key very selfishly glad she took it because I wanted to see what would happen! Turns out, A LOT WILL HAPPEN.
    Also, there's a tank.
Thanks so much for commissioning this book, everyone, and I will see you soon with the start of Crooked Kingdom!

  • Hexed- Episode 4
Hey there, friends! Rosalie has commissioned the first episode of Hexed since October, and I am super excited to be getting back into this world! Also I'm happy to say that Atticus handles himself very admirably in a situation that could have gone so so wrong, and I'm going to give him some points back on that.
A few things happen in these chapters, but one of the most important is Brighid proposing to him, and then immediately following it up with an attempt on his life. I wish that there was some sort of supernatural checks and balance system that would fuck her up for making trying to kill him while a guest in his home, but pretty much the only person to hold her accountable is her.
And then there's the search by police who are really starting to take a keen interest in Atticus, and I'm not sure how much longer this "playing dumb" act can last. Like there's gonna have to be someone eventually who catches Atticus when his guard's down and realizes he doesn't talk like that. Plus later the weird priest and rabbi come in, and that's a whole other kettle of fish that I'm interested in.
Thanks again to Rosalie, and I hope to see you all soon with a new episode!

  • Deadwood, S01E02- Deep Water
Many thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode of Deadwood! I'm really enjoying this show a lot and it's been desperately hard to shut things off and wait to record on it and not watch the next one. This show is gritty in the best, least pretentious sense of the word, and I'm all about it.
This episode deals with the unexpected (at least for me) fallout after a man is summarily executed in the street for being involved in the slaughter of an innocent family. A little girl survives, and while I initially thought that was good news, I'm not totally sure that's true now. The Doc susses out pretty quick that she might be in danger, and rises in my estimation several notches.
Also, shit doesn't go well for Brom, who is so green and so clueless that he doesn't recognize he's being played from every conceivable angle. His wife, who is an addict, seems smart as a whip but she's suffering alongside a regrettably foolish man. A terrible combination, foolishness and money and confidence.
This show is so good. Thanks a ton for listening, and thank you again to Patrick!

  • Veronica Mars, S01E22- Leave It To Beaver
Y'all, this fuckin finale was so loaded that there's live video of me hiding under a blanket, bugging out as Veronica screams from inside a burning refrigerator. And then live video of me SCREAMING at the TV as her mother takes a motherfucking check for $50,000. I kinda lost my shit a little bit. You can watch both of those in the video here: https://www.facebook.com/UnspoiledPod/videos/287459875459974/
I floated the possibility that Aaron was the murderer during one of my wilder moments of theorizing because I simply hate that guy, but I don't think that I ever really believed it. Once I realized that the camera was in the guest house, I should have known, but to be honest I never thought that Aaron would be STUPID enough to film himself committing statutory rape. Men are dumb.
Anyway, I'm blown away by everything that was set up in this finale, and I am actually really excited to start the second season! Thanks to Agnes and Nancy for commissioning the episode!

  • The Grace Of Kings- Episode 11
So as if the last episode wasn't enough, we've got some more real shit happening in this section, and it's super exciting and I love the whole legendary scale of everything.
First off, Mata is a fucking beast and manages this impossible victory by basically inspiring his men to not give a fuck if they live or die. It's rad and thrilling to read and I'm very happy that Mata is finally getting to flex his manic warrior muscles.
But then there's Kuni. Oh, buddy. In some ways I'm glad that the author has decided that Kuni is going to make some bad decisions, but it's just tragic to see him sailing down the river of entitlement with no rudder, relying completely on his friends to pull him out of that mess. WHADDAYA DOIN, KUNI???
This book is great. Thank you Kyle for commissioning it.

  • The High Lord- Episode 2
Oh boy, kids, things are really starting to heat up in this here Guild. Sonea is starting to realize that there's a whole wide world out there that she never knew about, with conflicts that go way back and magic that goes back even farther.

Turns out that black magic has been used for many things that aren't necessarily bad, but that the potential for abuse is certainly very real and can spin wildly out of control. It seems like Akkarin is trying to convince Sonea, slowly, of the fact that blood magic isn't inherently evil, while also warning her of how hugely destructive it can be. That's a delicate balancing act, Akkarin, and I don't know about how well you're managing it. I guess we'll find out!

Thank you again to Ashleigh for commissioning this series!

  • Deadwood, S01E01- Deadwood
I am really excited to be starting a whole new TV series for Spoil Me! because so far the only one I've been doing is Veronica Mars, so everyone say thanks to Patrick for commissioning practically the whole first season of Deadwood!
This show is really gripping so far, and I have been experiencing one of the most acute cases of "BUT I WANNA WATCH THE NEXT ONE NOW!" that I've had since Hannibal. This first episode does a beautiful job setting up the main players, showing up who they are and where they draw their moral lines. Also there's an intensity to the location that's almost claustrophobic, and it makes a lot of sense that the show is simply named for where it all takes place.
Thank you so much to Patrick for commissioning this show, and I will be seeing you all soon with the next episode!
