  • The High Lord- Episode 6
Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode!
In these chapters, Akkarin and Sonea are exiled into Sachaka, and I'm totally startled by how quickly the Ichani begin to pursue them even though I should have known better because I'm aware that the Ichani can listen in on the mental conversations the magicians are having.
Things aren't easy for Sonea and Akkarin, although having magic certainly gives them a great advantage. I don't know what I expected but I guess it wasn't for them to be sent off on foot without any food or water. That's pretty rough. And meanwhile poor Rothen is at his wit's end and Dannyl is dealing with his own shit...THERE IS A LOT GOING ON.
Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you all soon with a new episode!

  • The Grace Of Kings- Episode 13
Greetings, everyone! I'm very thankful to Kyle for bringing this book into my life and commissioning this coverage from me, but I also hate you Kyle for doing this to me because it's so painful and I could see it coming and I hate this so much.
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST BE FRIENDS???
But no. Mata goes bananas just the way that I predicted he would, because frankly it all looks really fucking bad and I can't really blame him for coming to the conclusion he does. However, I CAN blame him for how he reacts to all of this, and the way he reacts is to make a fool of himself and throw tantrums. UUUUGHHHHH I HATE IT.
Thanks for listening and I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE!

  • The Dark Lord Of Derkholm- Episode 10
Oh boy, it's time! I'm finally at the end of The Dark Lord Of Derkholm and I'm really really surprised at the way everything wraps up.
In some ways, I found the ending of this book very satisfying. Everyone is dealt with, everything gets explained, mysteries are revealed...but it's a little bit abrupt, as if Wynne Jones realized she was nearing the page limit on her manuscript and decided that she'd better wrap everything up.
Also, I'm not sure that I'm totally understanding this correctly, but did is the demon that Derk summoned the romantic mate of Chesney's demon? Is this a personal vendetta this demon has?
Thank you so so much to Patricia for commissioning this episode and this ENTIRE BOOK. This was so much fun to read! I hope you all enjoyed the coverage!

  • The High Lord- Episode 5
Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode, and I'm really shocked so I hope you're happy!
These chapters were almost entirely taken up by the trial of Akkarin and Sonea, in which Sonea decides that if Akkarin is going to be exiled, then so is she. It's a huge twist that I didn't see coming, them being sent off to Sachaka, and I'm annoyed at the King for making this decision. I don't like it.
Also, things continue to progress between Cery and his lady, whom he keeps having to remind himself isn't necessarily someone he can trust. I kind of like her, but I don't know...
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

  • Veronica Mars, S02E02- Driver Ed
Many thanks to Renee for commissioning this episode! I'm so psyched to be getting further into this season!

This episode deals with the fallout from the bus crash, naturally, and people are asking all kinds of questions about what the deal was with the bus driver. Most people seem to think that he took his own life, but understandably his daughter finds it pretty hard to stomach that her father was so intent on killing himself that he was willing to take a busful of kids and a teacher with him. So she hired Veronica.

Meanwhile, we get introduced to a new character and I do. not. like. her. Wallace, WYD? ugh.

Thank you so much for listening, and I hope you enjoy the show!

  • Finding Forrester
Many thanks to Anonymous for commissioning this episode of me and RoShawn covering Finding Forrester, a movie that both RoShawn and I did not expect to like as much as we did. And apologies for how long we took!
This is a really interesting example of two people with such engrained expectations that when a film doesn't pursue certain cliches, we're almost baffled. Like, we're so certain it's going to go a certain way that we're preemptively annoyed about it. And then it DOESN'T and we're like, "Oh word?"
Anyway, I recommend this film if you want a movie that looks like it's going to be a white savior tale and then inexplicably doesn't bask in the pain of the black characters.

  • Crooked Kingdom- Episode 1
Many thanks to Jill for commissioning the first episode of Crooked Kingdom! I'm so happy to be able to dive right into the world again and find out what is happening with our old crew now that they have a whole new mission.
This book starts off with a POV chapter from an entirely new character, which I sure didn't expect, and I'm kind of into it. He's kind of an asshole, and he knows it, although he certainly tries to rationalize that to himself. But then this mysterious noob is snapped up by some squallers (at least that's what I think they are) wearing wings later and I don't know what to think.
And then we get a POV from Wylan, which is a new one, and he's having a hard time with everything that they're doing to get Inej back. I'm not even going so far as to say that he thinks what they're doing is wrong, it's just that it's bothering him and he's struggling to push it down somewhere that it won't be constantly popping up and getting in the way of their work. Because make no mistake, there's lots of work left to be done.
Thank you all so much for listening, and thank you again Jill! Hope I can see you all soon with a new episode!

  • The Grace Of Kings- Episode 12
Hoo boy, folks. Many thanks, first of all, to Kyle for commissioning this episode.
This episode I made a mistake and only read 2 chapters this time when I was supposed to have read 3, but it turns out that I can talk for 1 hour about 2 chapters just as easily as 3.
Turns out that maybe Mata is a little more unhinged than I first gave him credit for. I knew that he was an extremist, but I had such high hopes that Kuni would be able to even him out. Unfortunately the fact that he's a million miles away right now leads to Mata making some decisions that are brutal, cruel, and alienate him from the people who believed in him.
Not only that, but Mata is legit calling himself a god now? Shit's not good, man.
Thanks a ton for listening! See you soon with a new episode!

  • The High Lord- Episode 4
Many thanks to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode!
This is the episode in which everything truly hits the fan. Sonea and Akkarin get caught in the middle of her being taught black magic, or at the least the area in his house where she was being taught is discovered. And by the time they return to the house, she's just murdered someone using black magic. Soooooo I mean, this is about as bad as it's going to go.
I don't really understand why they let Takan go, though, because a man's servant would know more about the goings-on than anyone else if they're trying to find out more about him. IDK, but I guess that the author needs him free for another plot point to happen. We shall see!
I hope that you enjoy the episode!
