These chapters as just devastating. I was simply not ready for David to actually be gone. I really truly wasn't, and that whole scene was so difficult to read. I am so sad for Genya, who just doesn't seem like she can catch a fucking break, and I know there's no way to undo this terrible loss.
Meanwhile, Nina is struggling to do something with herself after getting absolutely leveled by the news. Despite her terrible grief and guilt she manages to pull something together that's actually pretty impressive.
Oh and the Darkling is on the move.

In this episode, we get to see more of the history of Hempstool, and there's a little more insight into what his deal is with his weird body and the struggle of dealing with whatever. There's not enough real information to assess what his role, if any, is in what's going on with the Homunculi, but we at least find out that there's a decent reason for him leaving his family.
Well, allegedly a decent reason. It's unclear if it was really worth it.

So this episode we get a little more insight into the motivations of the homunculi, though it is by no means a full explanation. After Sloth is led outside and frozen in place, Ed & Co. go exploring in the tunnel Sloth had come out of, and begin to piece together that the shape of Amestris in conjunction with some of the most bloody atrocities in the country's history all match up to the points of a transmutation circle. Turns out that the homunculi CREATED Amestris for this purpose, but the ultimate goal? Still unknown.

First we get this wonderful surprise of the REAL wedding that is taking place between David and Genya, and it's a delightfully sneaky move that results in a delicious coup back in Shu Han. But then we have the awful ending of Part 1 after the attack and her joy has turned to ashes.
Meanwhile, we get Mayu's POV for the first time, and it's a real eye-opener to see how the Princess is viewed by certain people despite her reputation for being beloved. However, Ehri winds up winning her over in a carefully crafted bit of theatre.
