June 25, 2017 SotD!Cast『 12 』The One Where Tom Done Goofed
Heads up – Tom messed up this week by recording on his in-built laptop mic rather than his swanky USB podcaster mic. As such, he was in two minds whether to release the first half of the podcast - but there was so much gold in there! So he made use of an hundred effects in Audacity and managed to get it mostly audible. If however you can’t stand it, skipping to about 30 minutes in will get you to the part where Tom rectified his mistake.
On this week's episode, the guys chat a whole host of off-topic crap – shootin’ guns, freedom and PIZZA; Blizzard, Assassin’s Creed and missing faces; Willem Dafoe, Pierce Brosnan and singing ABBA… everything that isn’t horror basically.
This week’s homework was of course, Ridley Scott’s almighty Alien. Chris’s popped cherry versus Tom’s familiarity and Matt’s directorial cut style advanced knowledge come together to give three different viewpoints on the film itself. We talk about the believability of the characters and their realistic dialogue and reactions to the horrific events of the original movie. We talk about the xenomorph and how it’s mystery adds immense tension to proceedings – something Covenant could stand to remember. Most importantly, we discuss the main character Jones, and the amount of his faeces that should be e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e on the Nostromo. Even before the self destruct was activated.

On this week's episode, the guys still find a way to cram a little off-topic tomfoolery into the opening minutes – bringing up the infamous fanfiction Doom: Repercussions Of Evil which somehow surfaced its beautiful head during the break between this cast and the last.
This week’s homework was of course, Dead Rising 1. We go on an odyssey through the game, recently reliving it for the purposes of this review. Discussing everything from Frank himself and the game’s interesting story, all the way through to controls and whether they are more ‘git gud’ than ‘get angry’. You’ll also hear some thoughts on Dead Rising 4 as the guys find it hard not to compare that recent shite with the game that started it all. You came for the Dead Rising chatter and finally, finally it is here – slip into the nearest dress or item of child’s clothing, and get stuck in. We haven’t covered wars, but something tells us our experience with herding survivors is pretty damn close.
