The week in D3 two of the biggest teams visit the State. #1 North Central (NC) visits #9 Wartburg. NC is the dominant team in D3 and has made 6 straight National Title Games (winning 3) and is rolling into Waverly a heavy favorite over the Knights in spite of Wartburg's #9 ranking.

#21 Coe is hosting the defending D3 National Champion UW-River Falls #6 in Cedar Rapids. UWRF is also a heavy favorite but Coe gave the National Champs a great game at UWRF last year losing by 12.

UNI Hosts Drake in an intriguing game. Todd Stepsis is in his second year at UNI after leading Drake to two PFL titles. A big in state clash with UNI being a heavy favorite.

The Grinnell Pioneers are one of Iowa's oldest college football teams who started playing in 1889. The Pioneers are building a football program in the Midwest Conference at the NCAA DIII level.

Coach Barnes shares his journey taking over the Pioneers in 2020 after the pioneers suspended their football program in 2019 (due to lack of players from injuries). COVID cancelled his first season in 2020, but Grinnell leadership recommitted to football and invested in a rebuild.

Coach Barnes has been rebuilding the program and has been steadily adding depth and size and looking to climb the MWC standings this fall.
