We brought on Matt to talk about a very exciting overtime win for the Indianapolis Colts against the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend that saw the team improve to 2-1 on the season and currently sitting on top of the AFC South. We hear from Matt about a lot of the guys that stood out in Sunday’s performance against Baltimore, including a standout performance from the kicker that was brought in in free agency that won the game, Matt Gay! We get Matt’s opinion on how valuable a good kicker is in the league in this day and age, and how difficult it is to truly find a “franchise kicker.” Brett also makes sure that he and Matt discuss the performance of running back Zack Moss who has done a great job running the ball in the absence of Jonathan Taylor. In the second hour of The Sports Rush with Brett Rump, Brett is joined by Indiana Hoosiers Broadcasting Hall-of-Famer, Don Fischer! Don joins Brett every Monday afternoon for our weekly segment called “Fifteen Minutes with Fisch!” Although Brett and Don are discussing a Hoosiers win this afternoon, it is probably one of the most disappointing wins in recent program history, as it took 4 overtimes for the Hoosiers to get a 29-27 win against the Zips on Saturday night. We hear from Don about a bit of a conundrum where he heard from Tom Allen earlier in the week about how well the Hoosiers team had been practicing, but we then heard later in the week that Allen had to have a conversation with the team about effort at practice and there not being enough of it. Brett asks Don how much of the offensive stagnation for the Hoosiers is due to the poor performance of Walt Bell. How many more poor performances will it take for there to be some pressure for him to be out of the program? What about the Hoosiers offensive performance concerned Don the most this weekend? Judge Phil has been covering Notre Dame Football for 27 years and is half of “Fighting Irish Preview” at FightingIrishPreview.com along with Tim Prister that you hear here on our station every Saturday morning! We bring on Judge Phil ahead of one of the biggest games that the Fighting Irish have had in a long time, with the Ohio State Buckeyes coming into South Bend for a game this weekend. Judge Phil recalls the last time the Irish had this big of a game. Brett asks for Judge Phil’s thoughts on the idea that Notre Dame has looked like the better team out of the two so far this season. Brett also asks if new Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman has exceeded or lived up to the expectations that were put upon him coming into this season. Brett and Kent have a little debate over whether or not the Indianapolis Colts should start Anthony Richardson at quarterback on Sunday against the Ravens, should he be able to clear concussion protocol. Brett is airing on the side of caution, and Kent is thinking if he’s cleared he should be out there. We also hear about how concerned Kent is about the injuries to Quenton Nelson who is dealing with a toe injury still as well as Ryan Kelly who is also in the concussion protocol. Brett also asks Kent for his thoughts on the Justin Fields situation in Chicago with the Bears and why some quarterbacks are unable to improve and learn how to be better during their time in the NFL.
