Jones describes first hand what it’s like to see entire towns, bridges and highways swept away with no warning. This frank conversation exposes the insensitivities of those outside the region and the shear hopelessness felt by citizens of the region, many of them hound people themselves.
Jones describes the devastation and recounts the terrible tragedy as a fellow coon and bear hunter on a rescue mission with his boat is swept under a bridge and has not been seen. It’s not the average feel-good episode but it does reveal the importance of living each day as if it is the last.
I felt it important to do this podcast at this particular time if for no other reason than to bring help and comfort to those that are so badly in need. Jones emphasizes the importance of looking to those nearby that may need our help and doing what we can for them first. It’s a sobering episode but one that we all need to hear at this very difficult time.

On this episode of Michigan Wild we kicked off the series The Last 7 Days Wk1. Robert McIntyre once again joins Nate and they break down their mindsets and each hunt they have been on. Both guys have had an eventual start to their seasons with releasing arrows, so they jump right into breaking down all the action.
Nate's first week has been exciting with its ups and downs. He has seen a target buck along with passing some awesome up and comers. The weather patterns and food sources have led to Nate staying mobile and hunting more mornings than he typically does in early October. Robert along with Nate has been on deer and even bloodied 2 arrows on public land deer. His family does a camp every fall and as a camp they harvested 4 deer. Robert breaks down his kills and the enjoyment he finds experiencing a bow camp every year.
Overall it's been a great start to the season and congrats Robert on your archery kills!

In the latest Antler Up Podcast, host Jeremy Dinsmore is joined by Lindsay Thomas Jr., Chief Communications Officer for the National Deer Association, to dive deep into the science of deer behavior, vision, and management. With 30 years of experience in deer management, Lindsay shares his wealth of knowledge on how habitat and hunting pressure shape deer behavior. The conversation explores the crucial role of habitat management in maintaining healthy deer populations and how hunters can use signs of overbrowsing to assess the quality of the woods they hunt in. Additionally, Lindsay explains how understanding deer vision and communication through scent and vocalizations can dramatically improve hunting strategies, especially when managing hunting pressure.
They also discuss the game-changing impact of technology on hunting and deer research. GPS technology, for example, has revolutionized the understanding of deer movement and has provided insights that benefit both hunters and conservation efforts. Lindsay reveals some surprising data, such as how Thursdays are prime days for buck movement on public land. The episode wraps up with a conversation about the NDA's mission of education and advocacy, as it continues to lead efforts in deer management and the future of hunting. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or just starting out, this episode is packed with insights that will help you become a better steward of the land and a more effective hunter.

In today's episode, Jacob further breaks down another hunt on a hill country public land piece that has good buck and doe traffic. Why is it that deer like edge? And, where can you find edge that plays into your hunt goals and is often overlooked by other hunters? Jacob discusses the edge value of creek systems during early season and how he set up and had an encounter with a quality 4 year old buck recently. Unfortunately, details matter and that is why good is the enemy of great...failure to be meticulous with details usually translates into failure during bow season.
