In this episode of the Whitetail Experience Podcast, Byron Horton and Cam Deerfield discuss cell cams and the future of deer hunting. This is still has a BS session vibe but two guys discuss the pros and cons on the technology in the sport. There are still some laughs and good points made but main focus on cell cams and if they are too much technology for hunting and if they are fair chase.

On this episode of the Hunting Gear Podcast, Dan talks with Ev Tarrell of Code Of Silence about their lineup of hunting clothing. For 30 years Ev work for Cabela's in their hunting camo and clothing division where he was able to identify what he thought were holes in the camouflage market. Several years later, while talking to one of his hunting buddies about hunting gear who was preparing for an eastern whitetail hunt, Ev had a bit of a "ah ha" moment. It was right then and there he decided to start his new company.
Dan and Ev get in to the details about what type a materials are uses, how the garments were going to be designed, redesigns of the prototypes, and what kind of hunter will benefit from this hunting line. If you are a midwestern deer hunter and are looking for new camo for the next hunting season, this episode may give you another option.

On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan continues his fair chase and technology conversation with good friend Bob Polanic. The last time we covered this topic the conversation had more of an anti cell camera, anti technology feel to it. Coming from a more pro technology point of view, Bob feels that the introduction of products like cellular trail cameras don't necessarily lead to higher harvest rates. This is another interesting episode that is a different point of view from someone in our hunting community. A lot to think about.
It's also important that we as members of this hunting community open our ears and listen to each other even if we may disagree. Because at the end of the day, being divisive is the worst thing that can happen to this fragile way of life. Enjoy!

Deer season is officially over for the 2022-23 season in Pennsylvania. The general narrative from this point on is cabin fever until spring turkey season. For every diehard deer hunter though, there is always something to be doing to prepare for next fall. Whether you're cutting timber and travel corridors on private land or scouting new ground on public land, the hunt never quite ends. This week on the Pennsylvania Woodsman we chat with Dwayne Jones from Shed Season.
Dwayne is just as crazy about scouring the landscape for fallen antlers as he is sitting in a deer stand - maybe more! We discuss Dwayne's recent property purchase and how he has begun to transform the land into a whitetail mecca. Dwayne shares the habitat projects in place including timber management, prescribed fire, invasive species removal, and of course, food plots. From here we dive into the beloved topic of pursuing mature bucks not only during the hunting season, but also during the months of February and March when antlers are falling. The attraction created on Dwayne's property is not only good for hunting, it's good for sheds!. We cover strategies to find more antlers, putting the pieces of the puzzle together on mature bucks using shed antlers, and the added joy during the offseason for him and his family!

Who doesn’t love a good hunting story? This week, the How to Hunt Deer Podcast takes a break from the normal whitetail strategy talk to focus on some awesome stories of success from the field with a few hiccups along the way. In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer Podcast, Josh talks with Aaron Hepler about his stellar fall when he was able to tag his first elk and a great public land whitetail in Pennsylvania.
Aaron is a diehard public land hunter. He shares his knowledge and experience of chasing public land whitetails on a couple of different outlets including Truth from the Stand and Exodus Outdoor Gear blogs. But he doesn’t just write about it. The proof is in the pudding, and Aaron is incredibly consistent in getting on above average deer on public ground. Last September, Aaron put his skill to the test hunting elk in Colorado and was able to tag a great bull just a few hours into the hunt. A few weeks later, Aaron was also able to take an awesome PA public land buck. Check out this episode to hear how it all went down!

This week on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast, we're talking to Jake Lishen about how to make a game plan on southern public land bucks when deer are entering into the post rut phase. For many of us, it's easy to decide to hunt deer like it's the rut when you're within a few weeks of the peak. Especially when you're on an out of state hunt. What Jake talks about is how him and his buddies analyzed the sign on their trip to Alabama, determined it was in fact later than peak rut in that area, and started inching closer and closer to a mature buck based on his sign alone.
In this convo, Parker and Jake just have a candid conversation breaking down what Jake did to play the odds in this hunt. January in Alabama can be a great time to be in the woods and it sounds like Jake and his friends had a heck of a time enjoying it!

On this episode of The Nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with fellow hog hunters about their upcoming hunt on Cumberland Island National Seashore.
Nick, Luke and David join Dan to discuss what to expect on this years hunt. David and Dan are new to the island but Luke and Nick put in the miles on this same hunt one year ago. With roughly 9,000 acres Cumberland island is home to wild horses, feral hogs, whitetail deer and rough 90 trillion armadillo. Cumberland Island was once a private island used by the Carnegie family as a recreational hunting property. Upon sale to the US government legislation was created to ensure the island would continue to offer hunting opportunities to the public. Stick around for the end of this episode and hear how close the guys were on their predictions.
