    Sermon: Romans Road
    Teacher: Bill Van Kirk

The Bumpy Road - The Reality of Sin

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬‬
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬‬
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Road Repair - God’s Rescue Plan

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬‬
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬‬
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭13‬‬
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The Road Ahead - Life on the New Path

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬‬
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭2‬‬
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬‬
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

    Sermon: Inseparable
    Teacher: Ryan Groshek

    Confidence in God's PLAN

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬-‭30‬‬
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬‬
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

    Confidence in God's PLAN
    Confidence in God's SON

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬-‭34‬‬
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

“It is a consoling thought that Christ is praying for us, even when we are negligent in our prayer life; that He is presenting to the Father those spiritual needs which were not present to our minds and which we often neglect to include in our prayers; and that He prays for our protection against the dangers of which we are not even conscious, and against the enemies which threaten us, though we do not notice it.”   - Louis Berkhof

    Confidence in God's PLAN
    Confidence in God's SON
    Confidence in God's LOVE

    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭35‬-‭39‬‬
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In the spiritual conflict mighty forces, supernatural as well as natural, are arrayed against them, but through him they overcome them all and remain irrevocably encircled and empowered by his unchanging love.   -FF Bruce

  • The Uniqueness of Christian Suffering | The Follow Up - Romans | Week 12

This week on The Follow Up, we explore the Uniqueness of Christian Suffering through Romans 8:21–28. Pastor Arlen shares insights from his first full sermon at Spring Lake Church, and together we reflect on the purpose of suffering, the longing of creation, and how biblical hope differs from wishful thinking.

    We talk about:

    • Why our present suffering is temporary compared to eternal glory
    • What it means that creation itself longs for redemption
    • How we find strength in the Holy Spirit during seasons of waiting
    • Why Christian hope is not a wish, but a confident direction

Whether you’re in a tough season or seeking a deeper understanding of God's promises, this episode offers encouragement and truth grounded in Scripture.

    The Uniqueness of Christian Suffering
Spring Lake Church – Bellevue Campus
    April 6–8, 2025
    Teacher: Arlen Chastain

In this powerful message from Romans 8:18–28, Pastor Arlen Chastain explores the deep tension between present suffering and future glory. Suffering is universal—but Christian suffering is unique. Why? Because it is anchored in three unshakable truths:

    • The Promise of Redemption Gives Hope
    • The Presence of the Holy Spirit Gives Strength
    • The Purpose of God Gives Confidence

Whether you're groaning under the weight of hardship or walking with someone who is, this sermon will remind you that God is at work in all things for the good of those who love Him.

📖 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:18

  • The Uniqueness of Christian Suffering DT 4.7.25

    The Uniqueness of Christian Suffering
    Teacher: Adam Jackson
    Spring Lake Church - Downtown | April 6–8, 2025
    Passage: Romans 8:18–28

Suffering is something we all face. But for followers of Jesus, suffering is marked by something radically different—hope, strength, and confidence.

In this message, Pastor Adam Jackson unpacks Romans 8:18–28 and explores what makes Christian suffering unique:

    • The Promise of Redemption Gives Hope
“Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)
    • The Presence of the Holy Spirit Gives Strength
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness... the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.”(Romans 8:26–27)
    • The Purpose of God Gives Confidence
“In all things God works for the good of those who love him...” (Romans 8:28)

Whether you’re in the midst of hardship or walking with someone who is, this message offers a powerful reminder of the hope we have in Christ and the sustaining presence of the Spirit.

  • Reaching For Christ DT 3.30.25

    Sermon: Reaching for Christ
Teacher: Jack Guerra and Arlen Chastain

    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭18‬‬
Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

    ‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬-‭3‬‬
Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

Three year vision was designed to:

    -Bless the surrounding community.
-Expand our footprint to love and reach more people in Northeast Wisconsin
-Create environments for kids, students, and families to flourish.
-Alleviate crowding in several of our ministries. Especially at our Bellevue campus.

    Two Connected Projects

    1A: Bellevue Campus Expansion
    -Full sized gym
    -Additional classrooms

    1B: Launch Southwest Campus
-Build upon success of Downtown Campus
    -Ideal service size
-More accessible to people in Southwest Brown County

    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬-‭8‬‬
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

    ‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭35‬‬
Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭18‬-‭20‬‬
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭16‬‬
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
