Welcome to a brand new edition of Squash University. This week, Jackson is joined by University of Pennsylvania Women’s Head Coach Jack Wyant and Penn Captain Jana Dweek.
Jack Wyant started coaching at Penn in 2004 (Gilly’s sophomore year of college). Over 20 years later, he’s coached 24 CSA first-team All-Americans, become the winningest coach in Penn squash history, and led the Quakers to 2 Ivy League titles, but one accolade alludes him as a head coach, a CSA Team National Championship.
This season, thanks to an incredibly talented roster, a seasoned coach at the helm, and the leadership of junior captain Jana Dweek, Penn, who's currently ranked #5 in the country, has a real chance to win their first National title in program history.
Coach Jack and Jana join Jackson to discuss Penn’s huge upset win over Princeton earlier this month, the Quaker’s addition of 2025 Ivy League Player of the Year Malak Khafagy this season, Jana’s recruitment to Penn in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, how the team is preparing for Nationals in less than two weeks, and they share their favorite Gilly Lane mannerisms.
Huge thanks to Coach Jack and Jana for joining us this week, huge thanks to you for listening along, and, as always, enjoy!
