SQUAWKING DEAD episodes

  • [Episode 30] Season 4, Episode 16 of Fear The Walking Dead, "...I Lose Myself"
    Host Dave is going solo, #Live, taking your questions, comments, reactions on Fear The Walking Dead's 4th Season (Finale)!
    Update: After an abysmal #livestream, attempting to #stream to #Periscope, #Instagram, #YouTube, and #Facebook (simultaneously), the feed finally cut out at 36 mins! Luckily, we had a backup recording we could use to create the edited videos and podcast with. #YouTubeLive #FacebookLive #InstragramLive
    * Pimping out the audience to help co-host #FearTWDseason5
    * #MorganJones & #Althea: keep an eye out for these two outsiders
    * Martha's perspective on Althea: The tapes vs IRL. Explaining crazy

    * The seed Martha plants in Althea's mind about her outsiderness
    * Poetry of the same police cruiser being used as a vehicle (help) by all the outsiders (Althea, Martha, and Morgan)
    * #JohnDorie shows the clear difference between the way he respects Morgan vs TWD characters
    * ...John telling Morgan he'll come after him if he doesn't make it to the truck stop is so important
    * while the rest of the gang is getting R&R at the truck stop, Althea is apart from them

    * "Doesn't take a whole day to recognize sunshine" and the importance of June knowing herself

    * #VictorStrand telling Althea to help load the boxes is another indicator that she's an outsider
    * Crashing the cruiser: Martha refusing help when she hears how sick the crew are solidifies her stuckness
    * The writing on the wall: the typeface on Morgan's forehead tells us he won't die, but will end up being strong, no matter what
    * ...the stakes are personified by the background sound-effect used when Martha originally went mad
    * Morgan doubles down on the good when faced with obstacles/opposition
    * Martha's mistake: another example of affirming a worldview using surface impressions - Morgan's tape vs IRL growth
    * When Morgan's walkie dies, he FINALLY embraces the idea of wanting to look for someone he loves, dead or alive, rather than run away (like he did with Henry)
    * ...Confronting Martha unsticks Morgan in ways she did not intend #strong
    * Rather than converse with the group, Althea turns to her tapes #ForeverAlone
    * Jim posthumously saves the day: a better send-off for him. Strand doesn't need to drink alone. Charlie has parents in John & June
    * Martha's savage commitment to remaining stuck: Morgan will never lose himself, again
    * ...furthermore, Morgan resolves to make sure nobody in the area gets to the point that Martha had reached

    * Someone leaked TWD's new #TWDseason9 #TitleSequence and Dave is pissed
    * This season was built around Morgan, in order to break him out of his cycle, and that's not a bad thing
    * ...now he doesn't kill on principle, for his reasons, not because #TheArtofPeace told him not to #NickClark
    * Season 4 is not a reboot, it's just a redirection ...and Minor criticisms, but largely successful
    1 hr 9 min
  • [Episode 29] Season 4, Episodes 14 & 15 of Fear The Walking Dead, "MM54" & "I Lose People..."

    * The #FilthyWoman compared to #Negan #TheGovernor and other TWD villains
    * How going out of their way to save people leads our characters to the right place in the right time, this season (aided by their setbacks, too).
    * Callbacks to TWD Season 1, Episode 1 by way of the hospital (and #CarlGrimes' bite mark on Jim)
    * Deconstructing Wendell & the holding back of #Althea's character background and development

    * ...subversion of expectations is par for the course on both shows
    * (F)TWD execs are being too ambitious (Movie? 10 more seasons?): fix your show and rebuild your audience!
    * ...FearTWD is an exercise in high-stakes, when it comes to reclaiming an audience
    * Carol on TWD vs FTWD intro: be more memorable/practical, not gimmicky/ambitious (Carol has flashbacks to Architecture school)
    * Why we identify with Jim in our waking life
    * ...and recognizing how important Morgan is to everyone and finding a way to be selfless for him
    * ...Jim might be right on paper, but not doing anything differently doesn't improve his situation #selffulfillingprophecy #YouMiss100PercentOfTheShotsYouDontTake
    * "Philosophical Fart"s and stupid humor
    * Why won't they just kill Martha? FearTWD is the engine that could... it really could!
    * The BIG theory: this season has mostly been an elaborate love letter to Morgan

    * Discussing the meaning behind the opening (clips from "Laura"), John's fate, and more Althea

    * #MadisonClark, like #NickClark, also admits that she is a better person inside the walls
    * Discussing Charlie's role in the stadium's demise and Ennis' possible nefariousness
    * Madison's justification for saving Mel only makes sense, given their perseverance

    * The parents are talking: Naomi calls Madison out on reverting
    * Should they have abandoned The Diamond? Discussing the Vulture Brothers

    * Madison's fate, "you never see the bad stuff coming," but she may not be dead and the writers will flip the script
    * Sneak Peeks: Madison has nothing left to lose (and the scene color isn't clear, past or present?); Firefight in the stadium; Althea is the one on camera, this time (Althea backstory episode)
    * John Dorie looks like #McCreeOverwatch and those crew nerds totally play #Overwatch
    * Sneak Peek: Althea is involved in the firefight and even provides some comic relief
    * SWAT tanks, Garbage trucks, and finger-blaster missiles
    * Sneak Peeks: Alicia & Morgan confront each other, which will be VERY interesting; Mel & Charlie's Land Rover get-away - how did they get it?; Alicia's freak-out towards Althea - we saw this before; Madison bars the doors and seeks out others...?
    * #TalkingDead Sneak Peek: John apologizes for nothing - Morgan admits that their friendship brought him out of his funk. Althea clears a path to get meds
    * #ChristianSerratos / #Rosita may not be in #TWDseason9

  • [Episode 21] Season 4, Episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead, "Just in Case"
    VERY long Episode 21, filled not only with observations on "Just in Case" but predictions for both #FearTWDseason4 & #TWDseason9!
    * #JohnDorie: go dark or hold back? ...why wasn't there a #TalkingDead poll?
    * Before & Now
    * Showdown at filling station: Cinematics & dissecting #TheVultures' behavior/possible end game
    * Until now, The Vultures haven't brandished a single weapon
    * Time-Jumping is only as effective as the story you are attempting to weave and #FearTWD is killing it
    * Naomi may serve as this season's spine: everything will be revolving around her. We praise her growth, but still question her motives
    * Carol's fear of contagion, Dave's fear of Mob Hysteria
    * Is Naomi a chameleon, like Charlie, and are The Vultures playing Three Dimensional chess with our group?
    * John Dorie the bad-ass, in that 1st scene, and how he's quickly becoming a #FTWD AND #TWD fan-favorite
    * What's #Althea's story? "It wouldn't be the first time" (video cassettes labeled "The Bog")
    * #FearTheWalkingDead's running character theme of past mistakes and redemption: who's the sleeper?
    * Surrendering his pistols to #MorganJones: how John Dorie is different from #RickGrimes and their healthy, sincere relationship
    * Madison's forthcoming, confident optimism and commitment to The Diamond
    * Deconstructing #VictorStrand: confronting Cole and #MadisonClark. Madison reveals some of their post-dam, pre-Diamond past in the process
    * ...calculating the passage of time in #WalkingDead universe, from outbreak to present: 3 years?
    * Digging DEEP on Naomi's intentions/mission. "I have to go back..." to *whom*?
    * ...Them hoarding Vultures: who travels that heavy and why? The Stadium?
    * #TheWalkers demise at the motel: the seed has been planted in Madison's head about what can happen when people get desperate
    * Strand's heavy-handed reaction to Naomi: the thing you hate the most in others, you hate about yourself
    * Are we underestimating or overestimating The Vultures? ...and is that where they want you? "You just haven't been tested yet"
    * Strand finally fesses up to the getaway car and warning her, the way Mel does at the end, about what people are capable of when pressed.
    * Feelings about the corpses of dead children
    * Naomi's mission to the FEMA center, from any angle, might've been a death-wish... and triggers us
    * Strand's quick call to action to save Naomi shows us - and more importantly himself - that Madison was right about him
    * Carol's J.I.C. weaponless bug-out bag, which will contain netting
    * Carol's prior squeamishness and plans to watch 28 Days Later over break to cover on the #podcast
    * If you ain't packin, maybe it's not a good idea to live out in the boonies (unless you have cop friends in the area)
    * Madison is on guard and tells #AliciaClark to pack a JIC Land Rover: is this a reversal from her optimism? The dark side of "No one's gone til their gone"
    * ...could she have caused the stadium's downfall? ...it's suspiciously obvious that she dies
    * Our feelings and predictions for the show as a result of #AndrewLincoln's departure. #DarylDixon #NormanReedus #Negan #JefferyDeanMorgan #MaggieRhee #LaurenCohan #TheWhisperers #CarlGrimes #RIPCarl #GlennRhee #AbrahamFord #TWDJesus #Michonne #TWDseason10 #CarolPeletier
    * ...and possibly uniting both #FTWD & #TWD. #LucianaGalvez
    * ... #BethGreen mentioned that Daryl would last man standing, so him and #JudithGrimes?
    * ...Thinning the herd on #TWDseason9, as well as friends that won't listen to the #podcast
    * Possibly attending #SDCC so that we can break down the Season 9 trailer
    * Sneak Peeks: The Vulture / #StormTrooper firefight with our protagonists; Alicia corners Naomi, but Naomi gets away; Luciana encounters Charlie, who apologizes for #NickClark (#RIPNick); Morgan thinks Charlie is the key to stopping the violence
    * Morgan's & John's individual positive growth trend and friendship: will it continue? Did Nick's departure facilitate?
