SQUAWKING DEAD episodes

  • [Episode 20] Season 4, Episode 5 of Fear The Walking Dead, "Laura"
    APOLOGIES for the wait, but you know what they say about Good Things, and this episode was definitely worth the two-and-a-half-year wait! Since there's no new episode airing on Memorial Day Weekend, we'll be recording and releasing Episode 21 soon after.
    * This episode squashed any doubts about #JohnDorie's character and how we can't recall anything close to a love story on #TheWalkingDead or #FearTheWalkingDead
    * This thoughtfully-written, carefully-shot, well-paced episode MAKES the loves story
    * The prescience of the (#AlGreen's) "Take Me to the River" singing-bass alarm clock
    * Comparing the way #MorganJones' & John Dorie's methods of isolation: they do it differently, but for similar reasons
    * The grass is greener on the other side, pun intended: The Clarks struggle for what John Dorie has, but John Dorie needs what The Clarks already have
    * John's circumstances have shielded him from the fall of man, which preserves his goodness, but is burdened by guilt
    * This episode completely validates our initial impressions of John Dorie and his quest for reunification with Naomi
    * If you want a pick-me-up, watch this episode, again. #VanityFair seems to think so.
    * Comedic Actors in dramatic rolls: the potential risk is well-worth the reward!
    * Are people fawning over John Dorie / #GarretDillahunt? We pity #KevinZegers & #AlexaNisenson at cons...
    * ...but are #TheVultures really "bad guys", when you stack them against #TheSaviors or even #RickGrimes & Co?
    * Clever use of film to explain John's story, while the episode's pace explains the weight of his burden
    * ... our gratification when Dorie finally uses his six-shooters: the culmination of efforts to pull him out of his long isolation
    * Naomi washing up on John's shores reads like a Greek myth
    * Wounds, stitches, and anesthetic: the episodic sin of our past
    * #MadisonClark's & John Dorie's benevolence is very similar, even in the face of terrible behavior
    * Does John go out of the way to be hospitable and respectful of space and privacy for reasons other than his incredible good nature?
    * ...because, in spite of his best efforts, he grows attached to Naomi, painfully aware she will leave
    * Even before saving her from the Trench #Walkers, Laura blurts out her own burden, signaling Naomi's HEAVY barrier is lifting
    * How can anyone sleep in the #Walkerpocalypse?!
    * After Saving Laura, Good Guy John just needed someone to understand him to get him to snap out of it
    * John Dorie's VHS movie classics reviews!
    * ...How "Meet John Doe" ties into Laura meeting John Dorie
    * Among all this episode's gifts, it unequivocally explains how surviving is not enough
    * Breaking down John & Laura's emotional kissing scene: His intense, almost-teenage helplessness against his love for her
    * Rick's last words finally resonate with Morgan, by way of John Dorie's rehashing of his love story
    * Morgan ain't havin it: his ability to jump John's sense of sincerity and integrity in the face of doubt
    * Morgan is exactly where he needs to be: No character, especially him, is a throw-away on #FearTWD
    * Why we were way more devastated by #NickClark's death than #CarlGrimes' (#RIPNick #RIPCarl)
    * Formally announcing our desire to compare the #Comicbook to the show, in light of many diversions: there's no reason not to, at this point
    * Bringing baggage into #TWDseason9's new world: #MaggieRhee as #Alpha, #DarylDixon as #Beta, and how #Enid fits in #Alden #TheWhisperers
    * ...we're enjoying the possible "the enemy within" and "Who do we root for?" ideas for #WalkingDead season 9
    * #JeffreyDeanMorgan's past and how he's able to handle #AndrewLincoln's Method Acting
    * Carol's #TheDevilWearsPrada professional start that DOESN'T end up as making set-designer for #TWD & #FearTWD. COME ON, CAROL!
    * ...she wouldn't last long, after hearing about this #Podcast! DAMMIT!

  • [Episode 19] Season 4, Episode 4 of Fear The Walking Dead, "Buried"
    BUCKLE UP for this slightly longer than usual Episode 19, where we not only discuss "Buried" but give you our thoughts on #TWDSeason9 and #TheWhispers
    * We're 40-going-on-14
    * Using #Althea's lens (of truth) to catch us up & connections starting to form between past & present
    * For Carol, every water park is one of terrors
    * Colorscheme, in the past, becoming less "warm", while present is set at night (absence of color)
    * Loving the openers, in general, but VHS opener was clever (featuring #JeffGoldblum)
    * Refreshing #FearTWDseason4 with new characters doesn't detract from our series regulars
    * ...Dave finds #TWDFamily's lack of faith in #FearTheWalkingDead disturbing
    * ...The reason you watch #FTWD is because everyone else more caricature-like than The Clarks
    * #MrHyde, #MorganJones, mingling quite well with #FTWD, snookered into friendship with #DrJekyll, #JohnDorie
    * Laura's/Naomi's suspiciousness & possible psychopathy of John Dorie (Dave, still #TeamDorie)
    * ...turns out Dave was wrong about JD hiding out in a movie theater
    * Our (mis)adventures with cast & crew from #TWDxFearTWD on #Instagram
    * Wondering what it would've been like if #JonHamm would've overtaken #JeffreyDeanMorgan (yet again) for the role of #Negan...
    * #AliciaClark's vacant-death-stares and dynamism through the series, but also in time-jumps, this season
    * #VictorStrand, #LucianaGalvez, #NickClark, and Alicia were going to take Althea's van, one way or the other
    * Mel & #MadisonClark's dialog, #TheVultures origin, and flipping the script on whether they're really "evil"
    * ...Mel's warning: they don't want to starve, so they won't come back
    * The Ultimate Mind F*ck: The group's self-improvement is why #TheDiamond falls
    * Speaking of pricks: Cole might be a sleeper #Walker
    * Had the group run away, John might not've reunited with Laura/Naomi
    * #RIPNick's death enables Morgan to get even closer, faster, with the group
    * ...Morgan is exactly where he needs to be, with people who don't trigger his blood-lust addiction
    * Strand's reasonable bug-out plan: how Cole's reaction grounds us, morally
    * ...in spite of scenes with the concrete pebble, Strand still has demons/depth
    * The Chutes and Ladders Water Park of Horrors and Chlorine #Walkers
    * Was Naomi/Laura part of another community/group (prior to even meeting John)?
    * Nick's plan for The Diamond: regrowing -inside- the stadium ...and Luciana is on board
    * ...was the grand road trip - tools, seeds, and supplies - the beginning of the end (how we meet the grounp in the present)?
    * Telling John Dorie Laura's dead enlists another soldier?
    * Madison invites The Vultures inside: it's just where she's at
    * The TEASE: The Stadium's fall won't be until the episode after next. Meantime, Althea's Uber rating's just gone up...
    * Naomi is a chameleon?
    * #TheWalkingDead, filming in the GA State Capitol: Congressman Walkers?
    * #TWD: Officer Friendly (#RickGrimes) is BACK, with a stick/mace!
    * #TWD: The Walkers will evolve
    * #FearTWD & #TWD: the former isn't bound by source material; however, with #CarlGrimes dead (#RIPCarl) and #MaggieRhee's treachery, the shackles might be broken
    * #WalkingDead breaks the wheel: The new threat comes from within OR our #FTWD cast becomes the new threat #TheWhispers #Jadis #CarolPeletier #lucille
    * ...We love the idea of the #FTWD crew helping out with #TWDseason9, given the awesome things they've done for #FearTWDseason4
    * ...getting glimpses of #OldManRick and Bushy-Beard Negan gets us excited (but not for a currently sequestered Jeffrey Dean Morgan)
    1 hr 38 min
  • [Episode 18: Call & Response] Season 4, Episodes 2 & 3 of Fear The Walking Dead
    With Carol’s "Response" we present,"Call & Response," covering "Another Day in the Diamond" & "Good Out Here"
    * Catching up is hard to do, for many reasons
    * Our regulars celebrate the 1st anniversary at The Diamond, but so time is unaccounted for
    * #LucianaGalvez is back? #NickClark ribs her for leaving
    * #AliciaClark's baseball grenades: weapon against #TheVultures?
    * The world has other plans for our self-sufficient Alexandria/The Prison
    * Enter Charlie & her least favorite food: swimming upstream sucks
    * 47 people saved: #MadisonClark cares about more than her own: How & What happened?
    * Awesome opening sequences, especially the music
    * Charlie's #RobertJohnson dilemma & #VictorStrand's concrete reminder
    * Nick's Agoraphobia/PTSD & our desire fully understand
    * The Vultures' suspicious timing: weevils destroy the crops
    * Enter Naomi, near-Exit Naomi! ...thanks salmon Madison!
    * Madison's strange #Walker foreshadowing
    * #TheLittlePrince Charlie
    * Why Madison swims upstream, "No one's gone till they're gone"
    * Nick's PTSD, manifests. Turnips in the apocalypse
    * Enter The Vultures: Responsible for the numbers on structures; Cataloged Walkers
    * Charlie's betrayal: Mel knows everything about our group (and how settlements tend to fall). Is chill but loses his cool, once: who is underestimating whom?
    * Madison & The Clarks still prep Charlie's room. Unlike previous seasons, The Clarks are in sync. Luciana shows Charlie she still has a place
    * Luciana questions our misfits over the 51 flag. Our regulars take #Althea's van & head towards area 51
    * Althea extorts our regulars, reminding them (like #CarlGrimes did #RickGrimes & #Negan) that it’s people vs Walkers
    * Althea flips the script, but almost flips the SWAT van
    * Nick's purpose up in literal smoke, decides to venture out with Madison
    * Althea is a truth-seeker who places herself at risk to get at it
    * Babysitter #MorganJones with ADHD Nick. Peanut-butter protein bar callback
    * Morgan scouts, Nick finds his video. Morgan tries to protect Nick from The El Camino, but Nick savagely escapes
    * #JohnDorie's desire to find (#TWD #TheSaviors?) Laura while Strand questions Althea's motives - Savage Alicia wonders how she's lasted
    * Nick stumbles upon Bluebonnets: Mel stakes Charlie as his claim
    * Nick's #Tyrese hammer & Morgan's desire to save more than Nick's life. "Nick" rhymes with "Rick": coincidence?
    * Ennis & Charlie beat Madison & Nick in scavenging with the El Camino by scanning the radio
    * ...a tale of two Nicks: Inside Nick wouldn’t kill Ennis in front of Charlie. Afraid of Outside Nick
    * Morgan: vengeance not only makes you lose yourself, but also what you ultimately want
    * Althea deal, confirmed: they'll probably be sticking together from here on
    * Morgan: caught between a Vulture & Nick place: takes their advice & walks away
    * Morgan sees the Good out Here bluebonnets (all life is precious). Rushes back to Nick
    * Morgan “reaches” Nick: No one's gone, till they're gone
    * John hopes his Luciana still loves him
    * Althea's The Bog tapes. Callback to #Deanna's Alexandria interviews
    * Cinematic use of color during time shifts, particularly Nick’s death scene
    * As Nick falls, one wonders if Morgan wasn't wrong ("It won't turn out like you think")
    * Our feelings over Nick's passing
    * [Sneak Peeks] Althea's lens: Walker Ennis, covering Nick's body, Strand’s Interview, Group footage; Naomi, the group should move on; The water park in the next episode
    * [Sneak Peek] Mel's attempts at convincing Madison to join: food & safety. Madison backs her group.
    * [Sneak Peeks] Morgan would rather be on his own; Strand & Cole confronting (Vulture weaponized?) acupuncture #Walkers
    * More of Nick. Tons of questions only the past can answer. More of John Dorie, please.
    * The Vultures: definition of non-violent/non-confrontational. What happens with Madison & Naomi? Why was Nick desperate to end Ennis?

  • [Episode 17] Season 4, Episode 1 of Fear The Walking Dead, "What's Your Story?"
    Took us a little while (thanks to #TWDxFearTWD)! We've changed the background music - hence the new interlude - as well as the colors of our episode logos to suit the series - Fear The Walking Dead! Is nothing's to good for our listeners
    * You've never watched Fear The Walking Dead, this is the perfect episode to start with
    * The difference in cinematic colors/tones and how they contrast to #TheWalkingDead
    * Morgan decides to leave #TWD "16-24 Weeks" after #Negan's defeat and #AllOutWar ends
    * Our first of two odd, out-of-place characters, #JohnDorie, is a lot like #MorganJones: isolated for an extended period
    * Platypus, Pasta, Potable...? P.P.P.? Heath?!
    * Along with living in a movie theater for a really long time, J.D. seems like he was a Rodeo Cowboy
    * Is the Laura J.D. looking for a mute? or just didn't speak much?
    * Just like TWD, FearTWD is finally introducing character personas: The Gunslinger, The Journalist, and... Karate Man?
    * This episode feels a lot like the a video game intro
    * Morgan ends up taking Carol's, Rick's, and Jesus' advice, whether he realizes it or not
    * Morgan's encounter with Lonely Guy is revealing - even when avoiding people, can't help himself from aiding
    * ...and does it again when encountering John Dorie: Dave reveals his series' man-crush #GarretDillahunt
    * We don't blame Morgan for leaving a snoring JD: He borrows a move from #CarolPeletier
    * Morgan is dubbed "Karate Man" by Leland and the Pilferers, which is so "Texas". ALso, New Yorkers are not rude!
    * JD screws Morgan's pooch, proving Rick was right about world finding it's way back to him
    * Althea's militaristically tricked out S.W.A.T. vehicle: toy execs grew simultaneous erections over merch opportunities
    * ...how many tchotchkes is too many? Carol & Dave prove they'd make glitzy scavengers
    * #Althea only uses her SWAT van to ensure a fair deal, rather than assert force on The Pilferers
    * The odd, displaced nature of a journalist in the walkerpocalypse
    * What's the deal with the numbers on these structures? 51? 457?
    * Leland and The Pilferers are unusually persistent: even when saving one of them, he turns around and tries to kill Morgan
    * ...BEST ACTION SCENE: walker grenade, dives into a bathtub, kablooey
    * We finally see what the SWAT van can do... yeesh. Leland was right to be afraid
    * Morgan reveals to Althea why he needed to leave: "I left before I left" "I lose people, and then I lose myself" *waddle-waddle*
    * Whether Karate Man wants it or not, The Gunslinger saves him from certain death, then enables him to reach the Lonelyman Walker
    * Morgan buries the Lonely Man in an attempt to bury a more grave future "We're always alone"
    * Finally: Just take the candy, Morgan. John admits that he's realistic about his chances at finding Laura, but it's not the point
    * ...this episode should've been called "Get a Life"
    * Most of our series regulars finally show up at the very end of the episode to ambush our new people (I like new people)
    * ...WHERE DID #LucianaGalvez COME FROM? WHAT HAPPENED TO #AliciaClark, #NickClark, and #VictorStrand to turn dark? a tremendous amount of time has passed and we're missing one #MadisonClark
    * Sneak Peek: Time rewind, are we seeing the introduction of the group that eventually falls our protagonists?
    * Sneak Peek: Our series regulars either don't seem to know what the building numbers are or think our new people are responsible for them
    * Sneak Peek: #JennaElfman as Naomi... friend or foe? Looks like she's faces some horrors, especially with some Oily Walkers
    * Other than Strand as The Con Man, is Nick "The Addict/Risk-Chaser another one of these caricature personas?
    1 hr 7 min

    * #RickGrimes is finally ready to hear about #CarlGrimes' last moments with #Siddiq. #RIPCarl
    * Why #Negan has to go (AKA, no more #TeamNegan) and we shouldn't need to worry about people when the world is full of #Walkers
    * #MorganJones, Rick, and even Negan and Why we need to hold onto the ideas of the people we've lost: a guide to not losing yourself
    * Negan's rapid downfall is directly due to him discarding his philosophy
    * Why is Henry dressed like Gavin?
    * Jerry & #KingEzekiel's dialog is everything. #GoodSpirits
    * Burning #AMC's swear-word allotment and how it creates more "creative" dialogue
    * Gregory mouse is locked in the house (at #TheHilltop): This episode was definitely cut for time
    * Defending Hilltop: #TheOceanside #Ewoks are hardcore pyros
    * Gregory might be a tool for #TheDarkSide: #MaggieRhee, #DarylDixon, and Jesus are going down a dark path
    * Is Gracie a ward of The State or officially Rick's daughter?
    * Henry's bold intervention: breaking (down) Morgan's murder-bot cycle.
    * Negan's final(?) confessional with #FatherGabriel: a chance to explain his plan for A.H.K.
    * What lead to #EugenePorter's master stroke: Gabriel's bravery despite his vulnerability; #Rosita's chastising; remembering his bravery with #AbrahamFord; embracing his talent for bullshitting
    * Maybe the hate will stop flowing through #JoshMcDermitt's #CyberBullies: Eugene's hero status and Day of the Tentacle future
    * Morgan & Jesus' Ebony & Ivory moment makes #JesusWalkingDead's collusion with Maggie perplexing
    * Dave's positive #SurvivalSunday #TWDxFearTWD experience
    * The immediate surrender #TheSavior prior to Rick & Negan's moment of reckoning
    * Deconstructing the time-stopping moment that grabbed us during Rick & Negan's fight
    * We thought Maggie was the one who had her shit the most together, until her unexpected and heart-plummeting reaction to Rick's decision to save Negan
    * At the end of the day, Rick saving Negan employs Negan's own philosophy: people really are a resource
    * Folks, don't write "slit his throat" in your intra-office messaging
    * Negan's almost-final words, about Carl not knowing shit, forces Rick to finally snap out of it and embrace Carl's ideas
    * The Megaherd and what it means for Season 9: Carol is pissed that they didn't tease this out more at the end of the episode
    * Why The Saviors gave up so quickly
    * Turncoats: what this secret civil war might mean for Negan & Daryl
    * Who becomes Negan's budding-relationship jailor (if any at all), now that Carl's gone?
    * #JeffreyDeanMorgan's beard: Season 9 starts filming next week!
    * Negan admits that Rick was his first choice to kill, to serve as an example for the rest, but couldn't do it in Carl's presence
    * Carol's and Dave's alternate end scene to the season finale
    1 hr 39 min
  • [Episode 15] Season 8, Episode 15 of The Walking Dead, "Worth"

    Dave WILL be going to #SurvivalSunday #TWDxFearTWD! NYC! Head here to get event details! https://www.facebook.com/events/2062743047384151/
    * Even after this episode, Carol is still #TeamNegan
    * Will #twdseason8 end in a satisfactory manner?
    * ...#TWD is trying to vilify #Negan: In a weird way, as brutal as he is, it exemplifies his ability to lead
    * Negan's MASTERFUL way of playing both #RIPSimon and Dwight (TWICE), while rallying #TheSaviors back into the fold
    * Negan made good with his promise to #Jadis. CONFIRMATION: Simon ended Oceanside.
    * Negan at his breaking point with #RickGrimes and the rest #TheHilltop and #TheKingdom
    * ...reacting out of anger: finally absconding with his "People are a resource" philosophy
    * The difference with the way #AllOutWar ends in the Comics #twdseason8 finale, based on #TheWalkingDead on #AMC's trajectory
    * Speaking of final altercations, will Jesus have a bigger role in Ep16? Finally?
    * Will the helicopter/government take #MorganJones to #FearTWD?
    * Carol is SCRAMBLING to watch #FearTheWalkingDead ...at least committed to The #FearTWDseason4 premiere!
    * #RIPCarl: #CarlGrimes's letter was never going to be enough to redeem Rick's behavior
    * Gregory is the political juice for The #WalkingDead's future: His surprisingly successful case preventing his murder by Simon's hands
    * ...we were worried about #XanderBerkeley's future on the show (and we let him know). A perfect send off for #TheOggCouple #StevenOgg
    * The maudlin Oceanside scenes: one would've done it... [clicks +30 sec on the TiVO]
    * Carol #Walker vision experience. We're aging ourselves
    * Negan's plan to eliminate Hilltop is the same as Rick's, for #TheSanctuary, at the start of the season...
    * ...makes it so that you can see where he's coming from
    * If Dave doesn't go to Survival Sunday, he will be making and eating Sardine Mac n Cheese on #Instagram (in honor of #JoshMcDermitt)
    * #EugenePorter clears up the audience's confusion over #FatherGabriel's illness
    * ...Gabriel's ammo sabotage backfires: Eugene brings the hammer down for possibly killing Saviors. Gabriel is slipping into his former self
    * ...and so does Eugene, after being captured by #Rosita & #DarylDixon...
    * Eugene points out Rick's hypocrisy to Rosita: The Satellite station slaughter started this war
    * Eugene's Looney Tunes escape and his newfound #TeamNegan resolve. Rick's crew's loss is Negan's gain
    * ...is Eugene sabotaging bullets? We don't think so, but in sneak peaks...
    * ...which brings us back to the many was he acted courageously on behalf of Rosita and #AbrahamFord. Is Rosita being unfair?
    * Simon IS The Sanctuary's Walker Wall: Dwight will be talking care of it with his 'A' sweater...
    * Revisiting Dwight's & Daryl's fates after seeing sneak peeks: Killing off Daryl is a show-runner's gambit
    * ...The two types of #TWD on #AMC watchers we love to hate: The #SkyBound comics literalists & and the fan-girlies that don't want their favorite characters to die
    * ...speaking of fan-girlies, Carol goes full #TheJerseyShore. You never go full #JerseyShore. "Carol making a good case for The Jersey Shore" #TheWalkingShore #TheJerseyDead
    * ...Carol and Dave are considering the #FarmLife retirement, a la #JeffreyDeanMorgan & #FixerUpper
    * Oceanside, joining the fight, is the linchpin to Rick and Crew's Success. Will Jadis be involved somehow?
    * Morgan is now seeing #RIPJared, after Negan serves up Saviors as cannon fodder for Rick and crew
    * ...even with both Rick & Negan acting out of vengeance, anger, and frustration, Carol is still #TeamNegan, Dave sees a possible return of Rick
    * #Michonne's attempt to, at least, reach out to Negan and relay Carl's letter. Negan wants no talkie-talk "Killing you is starting over"
    * ...Will he stop or will someone have to stop him? We'll find out on Survival Sunday!
    1 hr 32 min
  • [Episode 14] Season 8, Episode 14 of The Walking Dead, "Still Gotta Mean Something"
    Episodes 9 & 10 are NOW available for streaming on our #FacebookPage!
    * #XanderBerkeley has a private #Instagram account... which he's now allowed us to follow. Dave is swooning
    * Carol has gone full #TeamNegan: Oddly, between he and #RickGrimes, he seems to be the more reasonable of the two
    * We're getting closer to finding out about our mystery helicopter, speculating about #Jadis' involvement and who controls it
    * The folks behind the helicopter may be the key to ending the A.H.K. vs #TheSaviors conflict
    * Deconstructing Jadis' possible dual origin. Possible government sleeper agent? Contacted/Recruited by Georgie?
    * The only thing we know, for sure, about Jadis: she's made contact with whomever controls the helicopter, but her Scavenger life had meaning to her
    * For the first time, instead of pinning his horrible actions on others, neurotically, #Negan not only apologizes for the act but assumes responsibility for Simon's actions, as a leader
    * Who Does Negan pick up on the way to #TheSanctuary? Sherry? Gregory? Laura? We're banking on the latter, but still... so many implications
    * ...but the person on the most shaky ground is Negan: his top people are either dead or untrustworthy. So much for #TeamNegan, Carol
    * Disappointing: sneak peaks from last week presented us with #Rosita & #DarylDixon surveying #EugenePorter outside The Machine Shop, but it's all they present us with in Episode 14
    * ...but Episode 15 may finally take out the final top person, Regina, from Negan's cabinet, leaving Negan without anyone he can trust
    * The characters we love to hate and the adorable actors that play them. #RIPJared: his death was not like Noah's, but the gore isn't why we watch #TheWalkingDead
    * ...When the #comics collide with the show: introducing disruptive characters that humanize over time... some longer than others (AKA Negan)
    * #RIPTaryl: #Tara is officially walking away from her Dwight vendetta, leaving Daryl to, hopefully, figure it out, as well. But will the show allow Dwight & Daryl to survive, post conflict?
    * ...Who, on this show, is safe? So far, heavily tweaked characters and characters that weren't in the comic (who aren't meant to be killed), seem the safest
    * Rick, #MorganJones, and #CarolPeletier: Carol is able to find a way back, proving her indomitable strength on #TWD. It's nice to see she her claim a win
    * So many other callbacks: Rick's/#CarlGrimes' sheriff's hat; "A Man's Word", itself, is a callback to (his negotiation with) The Prison(ers)
    * Negan and Rick: Negan has an unwavering ethos, but no binding loyalty. Rick is emotionally unstable, but has a terrific support system. I hope they never switch
    * Rick not saving any Escapee makes Al uneasy
    * More callbacks: #Michonne tells Rick how Andrea brought her back to a point where she could imagine a future; Morgan is forced to admit that he saved Rick (in the 1st episode) because his boy was with him
    * All the callbacks thread together: the loss of their loved ones forced them to maintain their humanity, to keep them safe, to do the right things, and to build a better life
    * ...what would their motivation be without them? Morgan is a wake-up call
    * Sneak Peak * Aaron having trouble at Oceanside... seeing the state of him, will Oceanside find a way to join the fight?
    * #KingEzekiel & Jadis fake it till they make it
    * The two times characters in the episode say, "I'm sorry," and the two times the response was, "You don't ever have to be sorry."
    * ...has Morgan finally shaken out of his funk? Enough to be able to transition healthily to #FearTheWalkingDead?
    * With more mysteries popping up and only two episodes left, let's hope they can wrap this season as neatly as humanly possible!
    1 hr 12 min
  • [Episode 13.1] "Negan is Dying"
    UPDATE TO Episode 13
    FIRST EVER UPDATE to a recent Episode of Squawking Dead, in Update 13.1 we mainly discuss the possibility of Negan (not murdered, but) possibly dying or ill (either mentally or physically), to the point where he feels he can no longer lead
    * Dave's insomnia-fueled and alarming call to Carol to discuss a solid theory in an attempt to resolve the #Negan dilemma
    * Negan can figure out and re-resource EVERYONE but doctors, but there may be an underlying reason for it
    * Why the #comics narrative may not work on the show: so many reasons why it would be deeply dissatisfying, given what we know about #TheSaviors
    * Why Negan is perfect for this new world: reins in his emotions, applies his philosophy, and channels it into saving people - but takes pleasure in problematic perks
    * Even though #RickGrimes and company can't defeat Negan, they have certainly proven themselves to be formidable foes of The Saviors
    * With none of The Saviors ever fully committing to Negan's philosophy, with his upper echelon crumbling, with the unpredictability of The Savior soldiers...
    * Negan's philosophy -> People are a resource (not to be discarded, no matter who) -> Saving People (his philosophy's core)
    * Adapting the #comicbook for TV: Why you can't do a panel-to-scene direct interpretation and how that is fundamentally changing the show
    * The cleverness of Comics knowledge + #CarlGrimes's flash-forward is perfect misdirection: how Comics knowledge allows the TV writers to cleverly manipulate viewers
    * The possibility of #DarylDixon replacing Carl, if the show follows the comic book narrative, and how complicated that could be
    * Dave believes in the show, but Carol is concerned with their decisions: BOTH will continue to deconstruct episodes with you (so don't #ragequit!)
    * Our appreciation for the #antihero: Does Negan even qualify? ...the reason for our update!
    * ...and is there a specific reason why the show-runners didn't film a backstory? The difficulty in humanizing Negan.
    * Tweaking #GameTheory to make a compelling series: the show-runners have overplayed their hand, with many viewers pulling away
    * The Saviors arc has certainly dragged on: though we want it to be over, we may be rushing its close and that's a problem
    * Carol, "At this point, we can't assume that what happens in the comics is gonna happen in the show."
    * ...are you going to Survival Sunday / #TWDxFearTWD ? We might and we'll report our experience!

  • [Episode 13] Season 8, Episode 13 of The Walking Dead, "Do Not Send Us Astray"
    Episodes 7 & 8 are NOW available for streaming on our #FacebookPage!
    * Dave & Carol flexing their (not so) creative muscles
    * #AMC, fooling viewers into watching #TheTerror... and Carol's not having it ("AMC: We're killing it! [GUTTURAL WALKER SOUND]"
    * Last episode, we thought #RickGrimes would receive the first spectral encounter: #MorganJones' spooky visit from Gavin
    * Doctor Dana: #Siddiq, passing her smell test
    * The conflict on the mount
    * Simon discarding his Satellite Outpost underlings, going for broke, getting weird - becoming his true self.
    * #MaggieRhee owning both her titles (Rhee and The Widow)
    * Low-rent #Negan (Simon), Scooby-Dooing it right into #TheHilltop's booby traps
    * Has Morgan set phasers back to stun...?
    * Is #RickGrimes gearing up for another killing spree, or is it getting a little chilly?
    * Carol called Dwight's conundrum, last week: maintaining his cover with #TheSaviors by shooting #Tara with an (unsullied) arrow
    * Saving Private Tobin: made of sterner stuff, in more than just build
    * Tara's 180° and owning up to that #TheGovernor life: She and Dwight (and Al, not "Philip") are more alike than she realized
    * Revisiting a Squawking Dead musing: Dwight saving DarylDixon's life enough for Daryl to come around?
    * Negan seems absolutely irredeemable: Is rehabilitating him a Kobayashi Maru exercise?
    * Iceberg Maggie: Hilltop only sees her superior leadership, unknowingly inspired to sacrifice themselves to exact revenge
    * Can Maggie resist Al's charms?
    * Negan's resistance to #Walker entrails: luck, leather, or...?
    * Henry's choice: not only a grave error, but could've minimized the walker deaths by keeping watch in the house
    * Dave, "Shut up, Al. Gregory's talking." A welcome amount of comic relief... and #XanderBerkeley. Memories of #AbrahamFord
    * Tobin's death and Henry's possible fate: The emotional toll levied on #CarolPeletier. Will the fate of Rick & Carol diverge from or conform to the comic
    * Advantage, Maggie: Time may have allowed her to come to her senses sooner, but how much time has truly passed?
    * AHK is heading to The Machine Shop and will confront #EugenePorter. How will Eugene's relationship be with Simon in charge
    * Morgan and Carol will eventually search for Henry, much to Carol's chagrin
    * #Jadis and other major unknowns
    * What does the future hold? Will the show's paradigm have to shift in order to save it?

  • [Episode 12] Season 8, Episode 12 of The Walking Dead, "The Key"
    Episodes 5 & 6 are NOW available for streaming on our #FacebookPage!
    * The beginning of the end for Simon: where he came from and discovering his true nature
    * Following the breadcrumbs of #Negan's true nature throughout the seasons, even before Negan's confession to #FatherGabriel and #EugenePorter (people are a resource)
    * The trickiness of killing off Simon (the who and how)
    * How Simon's many mistakes reflect poorly on Negan. Never punishing him or denouncing his acts is the reason why Simon is able to take over
    * Negan's fire sale pitch to #RickGrimes: he's teeters between incompetence and stupidity
    * #TheSaviors video montage at the start of this episode: a callback to the AHK version in Episode 2 "The Damned"
    * The juxtapositions in this episode between Rick & Negan and their affect within their respective communities
    * The Chase: Rick's Storm Trooper aim and the real-world aim of police officers in the Walkerpocalypse (but incredible dental plan)
    * DarylDixon's finally got some dialog! Comparing him with Simon, as the right-hand men of their respective leaders
    * Simon's visual tells; #StevenOgg's subtle acting. Revisiting Simon's long leash and sociopathic need to control the situation
    * Comic relief: "Let's get weird" "Nothing but us chickens" "Balls flapping in the breeze" "I'm a God damn cat" "Moisture"
    * ENTER GEORGIE: Her out-of-placeness, her goofy flunkies, and her pretty decent proposal... maybe.
    * Busting the trope of #TheWalkingDead antagonists means a promising future for the series
    * The secret life of #Jadis and the status of her prisoner for the next few episodes
    * Nailing down the timing of Simon's demise and who needs to be around in order for everyone to possibly move on... if that's even possible...
    * A Hail Mary Full of Ghosts: the risk in resurrecting a fallen friend to finally break Rick's funk
    * The payoff for sticking around for 8 seasons: the shift in paradigm from survival to rebuilding
    * The possibility of #FearTheWalkingDead taking on some of the antagonists from The #WalkingDead comic to clear a path for the main series
    * The varying degrees of intensity throughout the series, plus the collective emotional baggage carried by our protagonists, make for an increasingly tougher binge-watch
    * Predicting the placement of Rick's "May my mercy prevail over my wrath" scene: his 3rd and final altercation with Negan
    * #OldManRick: messing with comic fans
