A Podful of Saints is back for another victory edition following an important 1-0 win over fellow relegation battlers Braintree Town. Jake and Lee break down a win that has lifted City out of the bottom two.
Despite much of the footballing world being suspended because of the Coronavirus crisis, the National League South was one of the very few divisions that had a full schedule this weekend. Our hosts analyse why the games went ahead with the help of some insight from those that made the decision, ask whether it was in fact the correct decision, and debate what should happen next.
In the middle of all this serious discussion, there is of course room for our usual feature ‘shirt of the week’. The boys also ask listeners what they should do with their Saturday afternoon’s if the division is suspended.
This week’s show is rounded off with a preview of City’s scheduled match against Dulwich Hamlet, however given the current situation it is not known if this game will take place.
A Podful of Saints will be back in the coming weeks. Stay safe, stay well.

A Podful of Saints, a St Albans City fan podcast, is back and Jake and Lee waste no time in reflecting upon another tight 2-1 defeat for the Saints, this time against play-off hopefuls Dartford.
Away from the league the Saints face Kings Langley in the semi-final of the Herts Senior Cup on Tuesday evening. With that in mind, our hosts ask whether the County cups still matter at this level of football and whether they can be a help or a hindrance to a club’s campaign.
The boys also discuss the return of Frankie Musonda to Clarence Park on loan and there is time as always for Lee’s shirt of the week.
This edition of the podcast is rounded off with a bumper preview of both the Herts Senior Cup semi-final and a potentially season defining league game against Braintree Town at Cressing Road.

With the season entering the final stretch and football fans up and down the country panicking about the respective sides’ league positions, our hosts discuss what effect sacking a manager at this late stage has on a team.

This episode is wraps up with a preview of City’s next game at home to Dartford, including an optimistic score prediction.

A Podful of Saints is back and what better way to start than with a breakdown of another surprise victory against one of the divisions’ promotion favourites.
On the back of that win, and similar results against other full-time sides this season, Jake and Lee discuss the impact that more clubs going full time has had on the National League South and non-league in general, and ask whether it is truly worth the cost.
Our hosts also take a look at the departures of Scott Shulton and Alfie Bonfield during the past week, before they round this episode off with a preview of City’s crucial trip to Chippenham Town on Saturday.

Jake and Lee are joined by special guest Ian Hall on this week’s episode to dissect the Saints’ 0-0 draw with Oxford City, a game which it is fair to say was affected by Storm Dennis. There is also the small matter of the 2-0 win over Royston Town in the Herts Senior Cup to look back on.
In a shocking development of more intelligent football discussion, our hosts take look at the role of the Captain in the modern game and ask if it has changed at all and if it still an important role both on and off the pitch. There is of course also time for regular feature ‘Lee’s shirt of the week’.
The Podcast comes to a close with a preview of City’s trip to high flying Havant & Waterlooville, somewhere that has not always been a happy hunting ground for the boys in yellow and blue.

A Podful of Saints returns after an unplanned week off (blame Lee) to reflect upon City’s glorious 3-0 victory against Bath City. Our dynamic duo break down the victory and ask how the team has turned things around following the 2-1 defeat at home to Welling a week earlier.
With Watford Under 23’s playing their home fixtures at Clarence Park this season, Jake and Lee ask how difficult it is for academy players to break through into Premier League first teams and the impact that has upon non-league football. They then look back on some of the better and some of the less than impressive loans that the Saints have had from Premier League and Football League clubs over the years.
This episode wraps up with previews of the upcoming home games against Royston Town and Oxford City, oh and there is still time at the end for Lee to share a few parish notices.

Jake Ellacott and Lee Wood are back following their day trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough, and they have plenty to talk about following a 2-1 defeat against the Beavers. Our hosts cast an eye over the appointments of Steve Conroy and Steve Haughney to the coaching staff, and also discuss Taylor Miles’ loan move to Cheshunt. His debut for his new club was certainly a memorable one.
The duo then take a step back in time and reminisce about some of their favourite FA Cup memories and discuss the importance of the competition for clubs like St Albans City. They round the episode off with a preview of Welling United’s trip to Clarence Park on Saturday 1st February, and there is time for some rather positive scoreline predictions.
