  • The Fall of Babylon - Mar 5 - Second Sunday in Lent
Babylon, the city who in partnership with the Beast, ruled the world
through economic exploitation, illicit sex, and raw power, but when it fights
against and kills the Lamb, it falls and is mourned by all those who relied on her.

  • How to Fight Temptation - Mar 1 - Midweek Lent Service
In the garden of Eden, the Enemy tempts Adam and Eve with the lie that he
can give them godlike power. In the wilderness, Satan tells the same lie to Jesus.
But Jesus resisted the temptation, reversing the curse of Adam and Eve's fall, and
providing a way for us to be forgiven and empowered.

  • The Dragon, the Beast, and the Baby - Feb 19 - The Transfiguration of Our Lord
In the highly symbolic Revelation 12-14, John records a vision of a great
Dragon (the Satan) pursuing and trying to kill a Baby (Jesus Messiah), attempting to
crush him with two henchmen, the beast from the sea and the beast from the land,
symbols of the political and economic power the Enemy uses to try to destroy God and
his people. But they are thwarted by the sovereignty of the Lamb who redeems his
    people and destroys his enemies.

  • The Two Witnesses - Feb 12 - Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany
The two witnesses of Revelation 11 recall Moses' and Elijah's faithful
witness of the truth of God's kingdom to the political and cultural forces of their
place and time, a witness unto death that the church of Jesus has replicated in her
confession of Jesus as Lord, a witness which will - despite the appearance of
failure - result in the salvation of the world.

  • What's Wrong and What's Right with the Church, Part 2 - Jan 15 - Second Sunday after the Epiphany
This week we'll continue our look at the seven churches from first century
Asia Minor (present day Turkey) described in Revelation 3. These churches are much
like our own churches - struggling against the temptation to accommodate herself to
the pagan culture in which she sits by engaging in the immorality of that culture,
and when she is able to harden herself against those temptations she finds herself
loveless and cold to the one who died and was raised for her. But Jesus promises
that - in spite of her failings and weaknesses - he is still determined to live
amongst his people and rule and reign the whole world through us.
