Standup Historian - Kourosh

This episode is my interview with Mr. Stephan Helgesen. He's a retired US diplomat who lived and worked in Europe, Aisa, the Caribbean Basin, and the Pacific Rim. He's a prolific author with an amazing resume.

We talked about the United States, and the current state of affairs, and the fact that we should never give up hope.

Nothing is impossible for America and Americans, we just need to come back to the table and start the conversation.

Last night was new year's eve, and I decided to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" movie with the family.

It's a classic movie from 1946, directed by Frank Copra and starring James Stewart and Donna Reed.

It's the story of a young man, George Baily, who has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity to prevent rich skinflint, Mr. Potter, from taking over the entire town.

Finally, he reaches "the end of his rope" and wishes he had never been born.

An angel sent to save him granted his wish, and we see a world where George Baily was never born!

In the world without George Baily, Bedford Falls does not exist anymore, and it's all taken over by corrupt financier Mr. Potter, and it's called Pottersville!
