A tender side arises in the pages of Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) #39 in an ending that made us proclam: "Dammit, Alyssa!"

In Darth Vader (Vol. 3) #41, the Dark Droids event coalesces nicely into the foundational character building that Greg Pak has been doing since the first issue.

The High Republic Phase III #2 (of 10) sees Keeve Trennis deftly balance herself between two enemies as the issue lets loose with a reveal guaranteed to drive High Republic fans into paroxysms.

The Revelations (2023) one-shot provides a satsifying look forward to what to expect in 2024, including the hopeful return of a certain morally ambivalent archeologist, along with a classic crime gang from Marvel's '77-86 run of Star Wars comics. (And yes, there is a Thrawn preview.)

The mystery is revealed in the 12th and final issue of Dark Horse Comics' Hyperspace Stories, with a heartwarming tale about a Rebel engineer set among the events of the Battle of Endor that brings the series to a solidly satisfying close.

In The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight #3, Bell and Burryaga deal with the fallout of the Nihil operating unchecked while the bulk of the Jedi Order remains safely behind the walls of their Coruscant temple. The final pages see the capture of a Jedi grandmaster, one referred to in The High Republic Adventures Phase III #1.

Bounty Hunters #41 (dammit, Ethan!) provides a fulfilling conclusion for most the book's characters, with just enough doors left open for more adventures down the road as the series barrels toward its January conclusion. (Also, tooka cats. So many tooka cats.)

Star Wars Splash Page is a weekly podcast dedicated solely to contemporary Star Wars comics published by Marvel, Dark Horse and previously IDW, featuring views about the current week's comics, interviews with the writers, artists, colorists, letterers and editors who create them, as well as the latest details on publishing schedules, upcoming series and mini-series, so that you, the listener have more detail and context about the comics that are a vital part of Star Wars canon, lore and legends.

Peach Momoko's Star Wars Visions one-shot is a true masterpiece in form, style and storytelling, wordlessly conveying the past, present and future across pages and pages of electrifying illustrations.

The Dark Droids event burns its way through the mini-series' namesake fourth issue and into the pages of Doctor Aphra #38, delivering a blow to the bodies of all involved, none more than Chelli Aphra herself in a deluge of body horror and, yes, introspection. The Mandalorian Season 2 #6 provides a faithful adaptation chapter 14, with art that's lushly rendered (though the Razor Crest got short-changed!)

Comics Discussed This Week:

• The Mandalorian Season 2 #6 (17:06)
• Star Wars Visions: Peach Momoko #1 (20:08)
• Dark Droids #4 (of 5) (24:35)
• Doctor Aphra (Vo. 2) #38 (40:30)

Star Wars Comics New to Marvel Unlimited This Week:

• Star Wars #37

News:

• Charles Soule, in his November newsletter, says to read Dark Droids #5 (Dec. 27) before Star Wars 41 (Dec. 6) so as to not spoil how the latter ends.
• The High Republic Adventures comic being sold with the Stellan Gios lightsaber hilt is a reprint of IDW's High Republic Adventures 2021 annual with a new cover by Harvey Tolibao.
• Marvel's Black History Month variants in February are all by Ken Lashley and feature Kawlan Roken, Bell Zettifar and Ember, Mace Windu, Captain Panaka and Adi Gallia.
• Looks like the "Logo" variants for January's Marvel Star Wars comics are each series' respective logo.
• The High Republic Phase III Vol. 1 TPB, collecting 1-4 is slated for release June 18.
• The Mace Windu TPB is set for release on Aug. 6. It'll collect the five-issue mini-series.
