Sorry this one's a little late tonight, but boy howdy is it gonna be worth it! Tonight we have the pleasure of featuring once again, Missoula Legend and Badlander Resident, DJ SUKA!

This Mix was recorded live at Blimp Fest 2026; a Rail Jam/Music Festival held every spring in Lolo Hotsprings, Montana. SUKA expertly blends deep cuts and high energy with her own creations. Some artists included in the mix are: Mau P, Deeper Purpose, Volkoder, and OMRI.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 317. Welcome Sketchy House to the show!

This week's mix comes straight off the snowcat. We caught Sketchy House live on the Disco Carrot at Blimp Fest, and the set was too good not to share. Pure energy from start to finish, recorded in the open air with the crowd right there.

I met Sketchy House 11 years ago while i was DJing in a Yurt next to Blodgett canyon. It was my first time DJing in Montana. I was out here couch surfing, learning how to back country ski, him and his brother rolled up to the DJ booth and asked if they could jump on the decks. I think he was like 12 years old to be honest and i was a little taken back. They assured me they knew what they were doing. The party was chill vibes and I didn’t think there was much harm in taking a chance sharing the stage so I agreed. The two of them ripped it up! I mean he was finger drumming samples while the other was mixing tracks then they’d switch. I was floored! People on the dance floor were matching the energy, really throwing down, hands in the air and yelling their names! I’ll never forget it. Sketchy House is a prime example of how a kid from the Bitterroot can shake a party up if you give him the chance. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or how old you are if you have an ear for mixing, a love for music, with some training on the decks you can move people and Sketchy House is living proof of that!

He's back!

the DJ you may or may not have asked for, surprising everyone or no one, coming up from a deep dive under the radar, it's the marginally anticipated return of The Backseat DJ!

Truly a whelming individual, The Backseat DJ lusts for old pop tunes with nearly new-ish twists; painstakingly picked to please mostly, nearly, nobody but himself, which neither pleases nor displeases anyone or everyone else. The Backseat DJ is always filling his setlist with too many bangers and forever playing timeslots that are marginally too short - The Backseat DJ knows how to select tracks and also play them. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of music -- both marginally unknown and obviously well known, the likes of which may or may not appear in this set. The set likely and probably does include artists such as Salin, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Everything but the Girl, and Lizzo. I could go on, but I can tell you're are marginally bored with this now perhaps too long maybe not long enough gribbling of text/light roast, so I'll the let the Backseat DJ take the front seat and we hope you enjoy the tunes!

"It’s really a throwback mix. I’m pretty sure the newest track in here is at least a couple years old and there are tracks in here that i’ve been spinning for 20 years or more. I wanted to do an uplifting, vocal heavy, accessible, and genre jumping set and I think I pulled that off, so I’m happy with it as it is presented in this mix. To be clear, this is the set that I imagined playing. The set that I played at the Badlander was about a half hour shorter with an awkward placement of the epic trance track… and a couple stinkers of a trainwreck. There’s a couple moments that were inspired by my late friend, DJ Corey Croft, who shared my love for Ferry Corsten and who thought it would be funny to loop the chorus break bassline of “Funkytown” for a whole night at a party.

WOW, what a wild journey we’ve been on together! This was Disco Carrot’s first music festival as a sound system. We brought it out to Blimp Fest in 2025, but it was set up as a lounge and wasn’t built out yet. Here we are a year later, and the rig is now the centerpiece of the event. I couldn’t be more proud of the team and feel so honored to jump on the decks closing the stage out. In this mix you’ll hear a span of music ranging from Afro House to Techno, with vocals straight from Jamaica to the Middle East, France to the States. MumbleBee is known for not giving a #$%! but also kind of giving a *%^$. But more importantly, they can often be heard playing vibey sets that meander through emotions and stories. This captured live set tells the story of a technomancer who decides to rebel against the systems of control. unfortunately they're just a small fish in a small pond and inevitably get arrested by the rave police! :0 While in captivity, the technomancer learns to free themself from the confines of their flesh.

Born right here in Missoula, MT, and operating out of Bozeman, Poppa Chachi has been molding the Montana dance scene since 1998! with a roster of event too long to list, Poppa Chachi puts his nearly 3 decades of experience on the decks every Thursday evening during a live twitch stream, and now he has graciously offered us a snippet of one of these sessions for the archives. Mainly known for all variations of house and techno, Poppa Chachi has been challenging himself to genre-cross into trance, breaks, dubstep and his favorite: Drum and Base (my favorite too, if I may be so bold and insert myself into this bio rq. but hey, who DOESN'T love some DnB?!)
