Starving Artists PHX

Comedian, improvisor and youtuber Alex Gilman is taking his first baby steps back into the entertainment world. And, just like a baby, he's hoping he won't fall on his face and shit himself.

We hung out in his house and talked about why going it alkne was exactly what you want and not what you expect, how books and memoirs can help you set the stage for yournown ideas, and who that one person was, from that show, she's really good, you know?

You can check out Alex's gaming videos on Youtube as Doc Digg (I'm in a couple and the games are too hard).

You can also find Alex on Facebook and Instagram for updates on his improv shows at The Torch!

And you'll have plenty of time to RATE REVIEW AND SUBSCRIBE EVERYWHERE.

Actor, director, and educator Brian Foley doesn't CLOWN AROUND when it comes to CLOWNING AROUND. That took me 7 minutes to think of. He's a circus artist.

We shared a pot of tea at a Chinese Restaurant and talked about the public opinion of circus arts, creating and casting a local variety show, and the artitic mantra that 90% of everything is garbage.

You can get ready for next month's Valley Variety by going to vvphx.com

To learn more about Brian himself, go to brianfoley.net

You can keep up with Brenda Foley's great work with the Bridge Initiative at bridgeinit.org

There are also a lot of great performing arts summer camps coming up for anyone who knows any parents!

The Irish Cultural Center has a camp for kids 8-12 from June 18-22, details at azirish.org

Circus School of Arizona has camps running all summer starting June 4 for kids 7-14, see the full breakdown at circusschoolofarizona.com

Finally, Phoenix Youth Circus has camps June 4-8 and June 11-15 for kids 7-15, learn more at phxyouthcircus.org

As always, check out Laughing Pig Theatre's upcoming events and rate review and subscribe on all media because it is the least you can do.

Austin Ryan of No Lungs chose to forego some traditional avenues of creating and releasing music, rather employing a more innovative, transparent online approach. Basically his Insta game is fire.

Austin watched me drink coffee at The Coffee Shop as we talked about building the confidence to record solo, releasing rapid-fire albums, and why doing stuff like my podcast is awesome.

You can find both of No Lungs' full-length albums in a pay-what-you-can format on Bandcamp or Spotify.

You can also follow No Lungs to learn about upcoming dates on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @nolungsaz.

Don't forget to rate, review and subscribe for real this time!

Creative artist Sherdes Leona ranks 27th in the world for female spoken word performers. I was recently rank 118th in floorwide performance at my day job. Truly a meeting of giants.

We met at Urban Beans to talk about mixing media to explore themes, marketing yourself in a new area, and why she might be too competitive to compete.

You can see samples of Sherdes' phenominal work at sherdesleona.com, @sherdesleona on Instagram, or Sherdes Leona Creates on Facebook. You can also inquire directly at [email protected]

Laughing Pig Theatre has great things planned, and as always rate, review and subscribe because guess what you haven't yet.

Sam Decross is back on the show? Talk about a Poor Life Choice, am I rite? Sam invited over to his pad to talk about how his music talent management business has evolved and expanded since we last talked. He shares how every artist should wake up thinking about finding a new audience, what he looks for in artists to work with, and how Chelsey Louise could take over his company herself if she wanted.

Fairy Bones will release the video for the next single "Hang with the Bois" off of their recent album 0% Fun on April 20, and will be promoting it live at KWSS that day.

Paper Foxes will be dropping a new video soon, and you can see them at Tempe Center for the Arts on April 27.

The Sink or Swim will be opening for The Sherlocks at Last Exit Live on April 29.
