Welcome to the first Rec Room mini episode! I decided on off weeks where there is no interview, I’m going to try releasing short, 10-15 min segments where I will highlight another great local podcast, as well as whoever and whatever else I feel like because there are no rules in the Wasteland. For this first episode, I’m highlighting the newer podcast Taste Buddies with Genevieve Rice, Comedy off Main St, and Rudy’s BBQ, which it turns out is not local but still pretty good! See you next week for a normal interview!

Writer and performer Christopher Danowski is my guest this week! I confidently told him as prep that I try not to talk too much so that he should speak freely, then proceeded to talk for a full minute before asking him a single question! Oops!
But Chris still shared with me his thoughts on Theatre that challenges the audience, the double-edged sword of academic research, and why sometimes you should just say “fuck it” and do a sketch show.
Chris is heading overseas to teach soon, but before he goes you can purchase his new book Dogsear. through Hoot n’ Waddle Press. The release party is September 15 from 5-7 PM at The Hive on 16th St.
You can also see B3 Productions staging of Chris’ play Frogwomen opening November 10, more info at [thesicsense.com]

DJ and Radio personality Mo is a steadfast believer in paying your dues to get ahead which I guess means I owe the library an apology and a bunch of money.
We sat down outside Mango’s in Mesa to talk about the pressures of being the face of a company, giving local bands a chance to get heard, and why a guy who’s catchphrase is Dy-no-mite shouldn’t bemoan modern comedy.
You can catch The Mo Show every weekday morning from 6-10 on Alt AZ 93.3, and catch Facebook live streams every Monday and Friday!
You can also follow Mo on her new streaming channel at twitchtv.com/altaz933

Performer and playwright Tayo Talaibi was my guest this week! Like any good interview experience, it started with her threatening to throw shit around the room.
Tayo joined me at the Mesa Arts Center to discuss rediscovering acting after giving up on the arts, using the tools the internet provides, and why David Mamet would be great if he figured out what a woman is.
Tayo produces work through her organization, Arizona Open Book Society, which you can follow on Facebook.
Their next event is a staged reading of Tayo’s short play Lend An Ear, which will happen Saturday, August 11 at 6:30 PM at Lawn Gnome Publishing.
You will get to see a sample of Tayo’s work when she performs as part of Laughing Pig Theatre’s next Monologue Cafe, which goes up July 27 and 28 at 7:30 PM.
Don’t forget to rate, review and subscribe to get seven years good luck!

When she was young, performer and comedian April Waltersheid would record episodes of Saturday Night Live and force her friends to reenact them with her. I had a similar hobby, but with times my family were proud of me.
April and I sat on the floor of her packed-up living room and talked about creating a unique aesthetic whether it's conscious or not, the effect childhood damages can have on creativity, and how Judy Garland is less nostalgia-inspiring when you remember how rekt on ketamine she must have been.
April will be performing in Tucson at Cans Deli on July 13 at the C* nts being C* unts talking about C* nts comedy show. More details on the Facebook page
That same night, she will have a guest host for her Unicorn Comedy Show at The Nile in Mesa, more details TBD.
You can also watch April's sketches on Youtube, and follow her everywhere.
