Welcome to Episode 203 of The Shooting the Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP) and our guests Herbie and Maddie of The Rigging Doctor!
Having cruised the Atlantic Basin for 5 years, Herbie and Maddie came home a few years ago to the Baltimore area, settled in and began working on an Alberg 30 named Windpuff.
Having documented cruising onboard Wisdom on YouTube, they were one of the original cruisers with Electric propulsion and synthetic rigging. Now passing the 11 year mark with the rigging and keeping tabs on the technology required to efficiently employ enough solar, they are a wealth of knowledge and experience, so much so that Herbie has written a new book all about Rigging called The Rigging Handbook.
During the intro I talk about attending the Bacon Sails start of the season sale, checking out the folks from Chesss (Chesapeake Shorthanded Sailing), Custom Marine Canvas & Upholstery TheNauticalTailor.com, and AzkoNobel (SeaHawk and Awlgrip.)
I also was able to visit with Chris and Cherie from Technomadia aboard “Y-Not” a powerboat at McDaniel Yacht Basin in North East, MD, on a Loop voyage that has so far taken 9 years, and will take many more as they slowly move ahead all while taking the time to really experience the places they visit.
