Instead, they seek to close the city’s deficit as much as possible by looking for cuts and efficiencies while being careful not to reduce city police and fire services. And, when asked by Steve about the budget for Chicago Animal Care & Control, Ald. Waguespack agrees any further cuts in that department’s already limited budget would result in unintended consequences as, for example, police would be asked to take on the duty of dog catcher.
