Steve Keene is a Brooklyn based artist who may just be the most prolific artist alive. With an estimated 300,000 pieces in public and private collections, Steve creates a large amount of paintings in one session. He’s made a name in music lore doing covers for bands like Pavement, Apples in Stereo, and The Silver Jews amongst others. He sells his paintings for very affordable prices in an effort to get his work out to as many people as possible. Though Keene earned his Masters of Fine Arts from Yale, he likens himself to a conceptual folk artist who carves his own way in his life of making images. He definitely has a cult following from artists to musicians alike. Brian went to Steve’s studio in Greenpoint to get the back story on a very enigmatic artist.
