  • Our Forever King T'Challa RIP
Hey folks welcome back to episode 14 of Still Dope
Shahidah and Tanya pay a small tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the impact his short career has had on many Black people around the world. He played our heroes but he stood alone as the Black Panther and brought us all into his world of Wakanda. His presence will be missed. His strength will forever be a symbol for all of us. Wakanda Forever!
Also up for discussion is the wonderful gift of the Brandy and Monica in their Verzuz Battle. It was a great night to go back to the 90s and relive what felt like a bit of heaven in comparison to 2020. (We in September already but this year has felt like five and one month all in one. CRAZY)
Remember folks get out and vote, make sure your peoples are registered to vote, volunteer to ensure our vote because if voting didn't matter they wouldn't try so hard to make sure we couldn't vote.

  • Black Anger
Tanya and Shahidah discuss the recent developments and anger over the murder of George Floyd by police. Coming on the heels of Breyonna Taylor and Auhmad Aubrey yet another black man is slaughtered by police and like many of you we are angry and tired of the same old white shock and rhetoric that enables so many racist officers to rain hate on us daily!
What has changed from the viciousness of the evil unleashed on the unarmed peaceful protest of the marches in the 1960s? 50 years later and the same shit!!

  • Black Trauma And Quarantine
It has been a long sixty-four plus days of the Covid19 quarantine and so much of America has been exposed. The unjust justice system, the racism, the broken political system, and the privilege of white America.  It's all just a mess.
We have watched on video a black man getting hunted and shot down all because he was jogging and supposedly looking through a construction site with zero accountability for the two men responsible. We read about a woman being shot eight times in her own home because the Kentucky police are so incompetent and racist they led a brigade of men NOT to bring a suspect in for justice but to shoot down a man who was a suspect. They had the wrong apartment, the wrong apartment complex and the actual suspect had been apprehended hours ago. We watched live footage of white people marching while fully armored with machine guns, yelling at police officers, and threatening state workers YET not a single body was thrown to the ground, not a single body arrested...the police stood there and took the abuses yet we all watched how they responded to Black Lives Matters marchers. These sixty-four plus days have shown a lot and many of us are feeling emotionally drained, emotionally abused, and emotionally crippled.
As a people, we preserve through a lot. We get knocked down, get up, and still manage to find happiness but we shouldn't STILL be enduring these punches, this abuse, the level of savagery inflicted on us. Black trauma is real. Therapy is needed. Self-love is not a given. We need to stand u and stand with each other because this pandemic has shown that we are all we got!!!
