Every one of us has a set of beliefs that molds us, guides us, and defines how we engage the world. Each of us come to our beliefs in a variety of ways – environment, culture, family, education, life. If you are like me, many of my beliefs are quite strong – they are truths which I hold on to closely and trust as a guide for all of my decisions, behaviors, and interactions. What happens when our beliefs, our truths, are confronted by a completely different set of beliefs and truths? How do we navigate the tension of conflicting beliefs? How do we avoid turning these differences into conflicts or arguments? How do we find commonality in our values, despite our differences? In today’s episode we will talk about navigating the tension in conflicting beliefs and how to learn from the differing perspectives and values of others. While our individual beliefs are important to us they do not need to prevent us from celebrating the opportunity to find connection with a fellow human, despite the obvious differences which exist between us. Come join us on today’s show, I promise you will enjoy it!
