  • Asisat Oshoala: from the slums to the Champions League (English Version)

Young women in Nigeria face challenges within their communities that hold them back from being the sportswomen they aspire to be.

Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala overcame the challenges of being a woman in football while growing up in a society where this was not considered to be the norm. In Nigeria there is a higher expectation based on education and finding a husband, as opposed to being successful in a male-dominated profession. Asisat embraced her talent in football and decided that she would not let this skill set go to waste.

#nomoresilence

  • The revolution of the Original 9 (English version)

"We wanted any girl in the world, if she was good enough, to have a place to compete and be appreciated for her accomplishments, not her looks. Most important, because we came from the world of amateur tennis, making $14 a day, we wanted to create a way to make a real living playing the sport we loved. Of course, some of us did get suspended. But we just stuck together, and eventually the other tournaments took us back. This is why we were ready to sign that $ 1 contract". These are the words that Billie Jean King spoke soon after that signature that on 21 settembre del 1970 changed the tennis world and women's sport forever.

This is the story of those 9 rebel athletes.

She won the US Open starting from the bottom, the qualifying tournament. And she did at the age of the 18. But it is not only a question of winning a Slam. What makes Raducanu unique is her cultural heritage: with a Romanian father and a Chinese mother, Emma represents the essence fo the new English generations. But not everyone agrees with putting this kind of the pressure on such a young player. Let's see the reasons behind this.

  • Simone Biles sets another milestone for sport (English version)

When on September 27th Simone Biles decided to quit the team finals and, on the very next day, the All Around one, the web exploded: they labelled her as egoist, as a looser, as a betrayer of the nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Simone, through her decision, wanted to make a statement: athletes are people, human beings whose physical and mental health cannot be ignored and sacrified for the sake of the "I want it all" of some federations, such as the American one. A true lesson of life and sport that set her a role model for everyone.

  • Naomi Osaka: it's ok to not be ok (English Version)

This episode is the first in English of this podcast channel. I would like to thank Anthony and his daughters/colleagues, Grace and Claudia for contacting me and helping me with this unique version of my favorite stories in women's sport. Together we hope to share the amazing stories of these inspiring athletes to a greater public.

"She is introverted but this doesn't prevent her either from taking an active part into  the pro civil rights protests or being the ambassador for the mental struggles of pro-athletes. Precisely for this temper, in Japan many do not consider her a pure Japanese. But she tells her proud of representing her country. This is why we are dedicating this podcast to Naomi Osaka, a player who never flinched and who gave voice to the cause and struggles of those without the same opportunities and visibility".

Buon ascolto! We hope you'll enjoy it!
