  • Michaela DePrince: The Black Swan of the American Ballet - English version

Sierra Leone 1995. The country has been living under the terror of the Civil War for for year now. Within the walls of an orphanage, a girl grows up within hundreds of difficulties and completely alone. She is not well seen among the people of her family, and let alone by the women who work in the structure, as her face and thorax are stained by a skin disease. Many even believe that she is "the Devil's daughter". But not for Elaine, an American woman who decides to adopt her together with her best friend. Once in the US, Michaela has only one thing in her mind: ballet. Since she found a copy of a magazine with a ballet dancer on her cover, ballet has become an obsession for her. And it is precisely that passion that will help her to face and forget the violence of her infancy and become a role model for many little girls.

Today's episode is dedicated to Michaela DePrince, the black swan of the American Ballet.

Thanks to Anthony Longano and his daughters for recording the English version of this episode.

  • Federica Pellegrini: the Italian queen of the water - English Version

Federica Pellegrini has been Italian best swimmer for the last 10 years. A few weeks ago, she took part to her last competition. This episode is our way to thank her.

Thanks to Anthony Longano and his daughters for recording the English version of this episode.

  • Federica Pellegrini: semplicemente...grazie

L'ultimo atto, the last dance.

  • #WhereIsPengShuai: truth and justice for the Chinese tennis player - English Version

The question is legitimate: "Where is Shuai Peng?". The Chinese tennis player, a former world number 1 in doubles, had declared that she had been harassed and raped by Zhang Gaoli, a former Chinese deputy premier. She has now apparently disappeared into thin air. Even from the federal center in Beijing, all the images that portrayed her have been deleted. Now the concern that something serious may have happened to her is tangible.

Despite the video chat on Nov 19, still concerns lingers on Peng's situation and wellbeing.

Anthony Longano tells us everything about it.

Thanks to Anthony Longano and his daughters for recording the English version of this episode.

  • Olympics women - English Version

In the ancient Athens, they were not even allowed to watch the competitions; but in the near Sparta, the first woman wrote her own name on the Olympics records was Cinisca, King Arcidamo's daughter. She won twice the chariot race in 396 B.C. e nel 392 B.C. Time has passed since Cinisca and the number of women taking part to the Olympics has increased edition after edition.

The original podcast was recorded a few days before the beginning of Tokyo 2020, but Olympics and their stories are timeless.

So, here you are the English version of that episode, provided, as always, by Anthony Longano.

  • Mahjubin Hakimi: Afghanistan is not a land for women's sport (English Version)

"The Taliban beheaded one of my players." The initial claim had come from the coach, then tragically, everything was confirmed: in early August Mahjubin Hakimi was beheaded by the Taliban, who, after the horrendous murder also posted on social media several photos of the severed head of the young volleyball player. Coach Suraya Afzali (using a pseudonym) spoke to the ‘Persian Independent’, a respected newspaper in the Middle East, adding that "any player, now, must live with fear. All have been forced to flee or hide. Only two managed to escape abroad, and attempts at help from international countries and organizations have been unsuccessful." This is her story.

Tutte costrette a fuggire o nascondersi.

  • Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan: stop abuses in women's soccer (Enshlish Version)

“Men, protecting men, who are abusing women,” wrote Rapinoe, the biggest American star in women’s soccer and one of the league’s few household names. “I’ll say it again, men, protecting men, who are ABUSING WOMEN. Burn it all down.” Women soccer players are no longer afraid of the consequences, no longer shy about speaking truth to power. They will not continue to accept the status quo. The league is powerful because of what it represents: a future in which women are taken seriously and treated with full respect. And I am proud to share this story.
