“Men, protecting men, who are abusing women,” wrote Rapinoe, the biggest American star in women’s soccer and one of the league’s few household names. “I’ll say it again, men, protecting men, who are ABUSING WOMEN. Burn it all down.” Women soccer players are no longer afraid of the consequences, no longer shy about speaking truth to power.They will not continue to accept the status quo. The league is powerful because of what it represents: a future in which women are taken seriously and treated with full respect. And I am proud to share this story.

Young women in Nigeria face challenges within their communities that hold them back from being the sportswomen they aspire to be.

"Uomini che difendono uomini che abusano donne. Distruggiamo questo sistema dalle fondamenta". Questo il messaggio lanciato da Megan Rapinoe dopo l'ennesimo episodio di abusi di un allenatore nei confronti delle proprie atlete. "É giunto il momento che la lega americana calcio non sia più passiva e permissiva nei confronti di questi episodi" ha aggiunto Alex Morgan "non possiamo più stare in silenzio e il messaggio delle vittime deve essere portato ovunque". Ed è per questo che ho deciso di dedicare a questa storia il nuovo episodio del mio podcast. #nomoresilence

When on September 27th Simone Biles decided to quit the team finals and, on the very next day, the All Around one, the web exploded: they labelled her as egoist, as a looser, as a betrayer of the nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Simone, through her decision, wanted to make a statement: athletes are people, human beings whose physical and mental health cannot be ignored and sacrified for the sake of the "I want it all" of some federations, such as the American one. A true lesson of life and sport that set her a role model for everyone.
