In Wellington, Moa Point road has re-opened - it was closed as surging seas swept over the street last night.

Rocks and debris were dumped by massive waves on the city's South Coast.

MetService issued a heavy swell warning for Wellington and Wairarapa, and it expects big waves again around the middle of the week.
