Every so often on the show I’m going to do a feature called “What Are Our Children Asking of Us” where I interview guests that I believe are leading from their soul when it comes to their work in the world, their parenting, the choices they are making and the archaic ways of being they are unwinding from.
We are in changing times and I believe now more than ever we are breaking free of cultural conditioning and that includes how we parent and listen to the souls of our children.
The people I choose to interview for these episodes are people that I feel have inspiring stories to share, they have broken free from harmful conditioning and they have wise nuggets that mirror inspiration for the listener. Their choices may not be your choices but there can still be growth found in their stories.
Rachel Nelson, my guest today, is one of those people. She is confident in her choices and her parenting and I wanted you all to hear her story.
She’s a mom to Avery, her boy in heaven and spirit and Odin, her rainbow baby and wild 2.5 year old. She has never been about living a life like others want her to, but always on her own terms.
On the show we talked about how she’s mothering Odin, homeschooling, how Rachel never thrived in most schools, her confidence today, the time she raised her hand in school and asked “Why is this important to real life?!”... ha!
Plus, how her parents supported her personality growing up, learning to use a chequebook, teaching real life skills, allowing our children to be who they are, alternative schooling, books that support alternative schooling, finding communities or moms who have gone before you, preconceived perceptions about homeschooled kids, making the right choice for your family, standing in your power as a mom, how she helps her son to interact with his emotions, healing our nervous systems and more. This episode is jammed packed with goodness from start to finish.
My fav quote from Rachel in this episode is:
“The generations that came before us, they had to have a different mentality.
Being ok with healing what came out of that is part of our work today.”
