In this episode, Dylan goes over the many questions young men might have grown up as it relates to the topic of masculinity and manhood. One of the biggest questions being, "how do you know when, as a boy, you become a man?" The answer sounds simple on the surface, but the prevalence of social media has created an environment where the answer can be messy with uncertainty. There are many moments that most of us just assume is "part of being a man." But Dylan shares some tools such as having a Rite of Passage for the son in your life. For some people, going from boyhood to manhood was always an assumed and easy situation. But there are many who get lost looking like men physically, but have not updated their lives to match.
Beyond that, Dylan also discusses some of the current controversies tied to gender and how these issues are manifesting in society and the current state of what masculinity means. There can be a lot of confusion today with young men especially. Phrases such as "toxic masculinity" has essentially turned into an almost umbrella term, leaving people wondering, "I don't want to be toxic, but what is toxic? Is everything toxic because I'm a man?" Dylan discusses his conversation with someone who believes all masculinity is toxic.
Tune in to this episode to hear some ideas and insights on this subject, especially if you are a parent of a child who chooses to identify as a man in the future.
