"I used to wake every morning to a house full of activity, the sweet smell of warm coffee and bacon and eggs, the sizzling crackles and the aromas made my belly rumble. I'd swear Angela made the best bacon and eggs. I always told her that, we called the kitchen her "lab". Nowadays though, I woke to a half-empty bed and a house full of silence. I got dressed for work and walked through the corridor to the kitchen, and for the first time, I'd beaten Angela to getting dressed. There she sat at the dining table, coffee in hands, looking absolutely tired, and her nose had a faint red tint.
'Morning, babe', I said to her, lovingly.
'Morning yourself', she snickered. 'Don't act like we're "fine" all of a sudden.' She air quoted, laying her coffee down on the table and standing up to face me,
'Let's not start this right now, we just woke up, babe', I started.
'Don't you dare babe me, you don't get to do that.' After an uncomfortable silence, she said, 'I'm moving in with Laila this afternoon, I thought I'd let you know. I think we need some space, I need some space. I need to think things over.'
'Think things over? I love you, you love me, let's not fucking fight, for Pete's sake!' I said, things were starting to get a little heated. Her eyes, said that she was sorry, but I decided to leave before I said something I'd regret. 'I'm going to work, alright? You want some space, I'll give you some space. Lock up when you leave.' With that I left."
- Stories of a String Tailor
This is for the couples that fight in the morning, a love like war. Feeling like you're on two different sides of the world, when you're right next to each other.
All we do is morning fights
Leading into boring nights
Baby don't ignore me right
Tell me that you sorry right..
Now.
