Another aspect of prayer is to depend on the Holy Spirit to help you pray the prayer of intercession and supplication. The Bible speaks about this and says the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us in Romans 8:27.
You must remember, the prayer of intercession is not something you pray for yourself. An intercessor is someone who takes the place of another in prayer. You intercede for others, but never yourself.
On the other hand, supplication means to make a “humble entreaty or request” on behalf of another. That is why we can make “supplication for all saints.” Amen!
By interceding for our unsaved loved ones and other unsaved people, things sometimes will happen in their lives we know nothing about. In praying in tongues, it is possible for you to interceded in the lives of others that save them from disaster or perhaps send someone across their path to witness to them. I pray this all of the time. “Send someone to them whose opinion they will respect and allow this person to open a discussion with them that will lead them to accept you as their Savior.” That is a valid prayer of intercession – especially for your loved ones. Amen!
These types of intercessions are often accomplished through the speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives us utterance. He knows what is needed. We are yielding ourselves to Him. We are actually interceding in a natural situation, through the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to come alongside and intervene in whatever the situation is.
“Why does He do that, brother Bob?”
What does the Bible say in Matthew 18:19, “Where two our more come together in agreement, whatsoever they request in prayer, the Father will give them.” So when you and the Holy Spirit agree in prayer, while praying in tongues – there you go! Amen!
That is why I keep telling you that praying in tongues is one sure fire way to get your prayers answered a lot faster than praying in the natural. Amen! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good!
Now, I do want to make one very important point. Not ALL intercession and supplication needs to be done by praying in tongues. You can (and should) pray in the natural and with your understanding – as far as your knowledge goes. If you know the situation that is requiring your prayer, you can pray in the natural, to a point.
Once you have gone as far as you can in the natural, go ahead and switch over to tongues and allow the Holy Spirit to take it the rest of the way. Amen.
One reason more people are not being born again is because nobody is praying for them in Holy Spirit. Nobody is making intercession for them in the Holy Spirit
I believe it has been so long for most of us to remember what life was like before we were born again, how miserable and lost we actually were, when someone prayed for US in the Holy Spirit. Amen. You may or may not even know who it was. But somebody was praying in tongues for you! And look at you now! Amen!
We need to do the same thing for others. Let’s bring more and more people into the Kingdom of God as we wrap this ungodly world we live in. Pray in tongues more often and get more people born again through the prayer of intercession. Amen!

The best way to get answers to your prayers is to get into the Spirit when you pray. The best way to get into condition spiritually so you CAN hear the Lord is to pray in tongues. Since praying in tongues is praying with your spirit, and God is a Spirit (from John 4:24), then God will communicate with you through your spirit AS you pray in tongues. Amen!
God will very rarely speak to a man in the physical senses. He usually will only do that as a last resort when people are either spiritually dead or too dense to receive from Him any other way. So many people have missed it by wanting God to “manifest Himself” in the natural, physical realm using their physical senses. But, they are easily deceived in that request because, as Second Corinthians 4:4 tells us, “Satan is the god of this world” and sometimes, he will try to deceive you by masquerading as an angel of light.
If you only try to listen for God or sense God in the physical world, it is very easy for you to be deceived, led astray and miss God altogether! The only times when I truly missed God (and messed up something terrible in my Faith walk) was when I tried to use a “fleece” like Gideon and try to have something happen in the physical sense. Satan will jump all over that opportunity to lead you astray so you do not fulfill whatever mission the Lord has given you to attend to.
Usually, when I was going down that path, I could sense in my spirit that something was amiss. But I desired whatever it was enough that I would ignore the promptings and warnings the Holy Spirit was sending me, checks in my spirit if you want to call them that.
But I was so set on doing whatever it was, that I would totally miss God in the process. Even though I knew the Holy Spirit was trying to tell me something, I ignored it. That’s the main reason we get confused is when we try to reason it out ourselves. Amen!
If you want your spirit to be more sensitive to things of the Holy Spirit, you have to exercise your spirit just like you exercise you natural body. You have to build up that spiritual strength.
God is not going to speak to your mind because He doesn’t live in your mind. He lives in your heart. Amen! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good! When you are speaking in other tongues, you are not speaking head knowledge, you are speaking heart knowledge. Why? Because that is where the Holy Spirit dwells. Amen!
I know that, from the natural view point of things, this sound silly. That’s what the Bible says it will sound like to those who do not believe, “Foolishness.” That is why so much of our praying and worship service is conducted in the natural and not in the Spirit. Because our natural, carnal minds would think it is all foolish.
You do realize that word carnal…well, let me put it like this. In Spanish, the word CARNE is the word for meat. So, when I see that word carnal, especially where it says our “carnal minds” are concerned, I read that as the Holy Spirit calling us a bunch of “meat heads” in famous Archie Bunker style!

Most believers can enlist the help of the Holy Spirit to help them pray about things without really knowing what the needs actually are. How do they do that? Well, for example, perhaps praying for your children or grand-children. You may not know exactly what the need it, but in your spirit, you are sensing you rneed to pray for them. As you begin to pray, the Holy Spirit will give you utterance and you will pray out the perfect Will of God for them in other tongues.
I’ve heard testimonies of this in action and was told later by the person sharing with me, there child reported to them later that, as the situation was unfolding, they could sense their parent praying and that gave the strength to endure whatever it was that was happening at the time.
These are not isolated instances. They happen every day all around the world. Amen.
You cannot wait to believe God heard your prayer until AFTER you see or hear from your loved ones in these situations. You need to believe you are sensing correctly, start praying in the Holy Spirit in other tongues, believe you receive the answer while you are praying and when you say “Amen” – SO BE IT. Can I get an AMEN, now? Praise God!
When I am aware of and KNOW there is a problem, I can begin to start to pray in tongues and, usually, before I’m even finished praying, I have the answer to the problem in my spirit. It could be business related, a loved one, whatever the case may be. But it always works the same way. Amen.
Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always, with all prayer and supplications in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
This is a way to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, where ever they are at in the world. This is the prayer that is prayed in the Spirit for all believers.
There have been times, many times, when I sensed something was wrong and I did not know what to pray or who to pray for. I knew I needed to pray, but did not know the details at all. So, in this situations, I would just depend on the Holy Spirit to help me and I would begin to pray in tongues, trusting Him to direct the prayers I was making in the appropriate way. Amen.

Scripture For Today:
Acts 14:23
“Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.”
Learn to Depend on the Holy Spirit pt 2
We have been talking about how praying in tongues is the Holy Spirit actually helping us in our prayer life. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise, the Spirit also HELPS our infirmities…”
The Apostle Paul here was talking about prayer, because he also said in Romans 8:26 that we do not know what we should actually be praying for. So the subject in this verse is about prayer.
If speaking in tongues and praying with tongues is not for us today, then that would mean this is one type of help from the Holy Spirit that is not available to the Body of Christ today. Which means we would be denied this help. That would go against everything Jesus died for so that we could be adequately equipped to make it through this life in this world. And, I would venture to say, that you would be agreement that we have it a little harder, spiritually, living in society today than it would have been back then. Right?
But, this give HAS NOT been done away with, as some denominations mistakenly believe…
Acts 2:4 says, “…they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” So, if speaking in tongues was the Spirit giving them utterance, then praying in tongues is the Spirit giving US utterances today. Amen!
And if the Spirit is giving us utterances today, then He IS helping us to pray – today! Glory to God!
In Acts 10:46, we can read where those filled with the Holy Spirit spoke in tongues and “magnified God.” So that means when WE speak in tongues – WE are magnifying God as well. Glory to God!
Now, I want to cover this point with an explanation. Some people read Romans 8:26 in a casual way and jump to their own conclusions and miss what it actually says. Some people believe this verse means the Holy Spirit will pray FOR YOU. That is not what it says at all…
It says the Holy Spirit HELPS US TO PRAY. He does not pray for you. He does not pray apart from the believer.
If the Holy Spirit did your praying for you, then He would be the One who would be responsible for your prayer life – not you. You would never have to pray because you know He would do a better job of it than you could.
The Holy Spirit is there to HELP YOU PRAY. You can depend on Him to help you. We all have needs and circumstances in this life where we need help. We need to have our needs met. Some of these things we can take care in the natural (like groceries, etc.). But there are situations that arise where we do not know what to do.
When we pray in those situations, if you simply pray with your understanding, really, all you are doing is praying to put a little band-aid on your conscious so you can say, “I prayed…” That is it.
If you allow the Holy Spirit to guide you through the praying in other tongues, you will be bringing specific things to bear on the problems. Things you had no idea needed to be said, but through the Holy Spirit and with His help in your prayer – these things are now being brought to bear in the situation. Amen!

You need to depend on the Holy Spirit to help you in your prayer life. As we have discussed in previous lessons, one important way the Holy Spirit helps us in prayer is to give us utterance in other tongues. Paul discusses this in First Corinthians 14:14-15:
“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with understanding also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with understanding also.”
The Apostle Paul said in these verses to pray in tongues is to pray with one’s spirit by the help of the Holy Spirit within us. If Paul is correct in this statement, then we need to know about it. Amen?
We need to pray with our spirit as well as with our understanding. I suppose all Christians everywhere pray with their understanding, but not all pray with their spirit by praying in other tongues. Many do not even know that it is possible to do so.
Some people, in their haste and ignorance, have said that tongues have been done away with. But you see here, praying in tongues is your spirit praying by the Holy Spirit that dwells within you. Amen!
If tongues has been done away with, then how are you going to pray with your spirit today like we just read in First Corinthians? The Corinthian Christians did not have any means of praying that is not available to us today! We have the same biblical means they had. Amen!
The ability to pray in tongues with our spirit is just as available to us today as it was to them two thousand years ago.
The Greek translation of Romans 8:6 (where it talks about groanings in the spirit) actually says, “groanings that cannot be uttered with articulate speech.” Praise God! That means speaking in tongues is NOT your articulate, everyday speech that you use. Amen.
Do not ever forget that the ability to speak in tongues is not only the initial sign of the infilling of the Holy Spirit, but it is a CONTINUAL experience for the rest of our natural life on this earth. Amen! Speaking in tongues assists us in our prayer, in our praise and in our worship. Glory to God!
