Success on Purpose Podcast with Chris Creary

I was recently studying Ephesians 6 in my group Bible study and we discussed this verse. In verse 10, Paul directs us to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. But how do we know if we are being strong in the Lord? In this episode I’m going to go over a few points that you can use to judge yourself to see if you are being strong in the Lord.

We all need to work. God wants us to be productive members of society. This is why the Bible says “if a man doesn’t work, he shouldn’t eat”. In addition to our jobs providing financially for us, they should also give us a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction. You should be able to look back at the end of a work day and be pleased with what you accomplish that day. If you don’t get that feeling, then you may be in the wrong job. In any case I’m going to go over some Bible verses that you can pray to get some direction on your employment.

Pastors are the ones who help to equip us to go out and do the work of Gods kingdom. Pastors hear from God on how to direct the church and specific things that they should focus on during their messages. Pastors spend hours each day praying and listening to what God has to say so that can lead the people that God has entrusted to them. It’s not easy to be a pastor. So we need to make sure that we pray for our pastors. The Bible says that we are to pray for our pastors because they will have to give an account for us. That’s found in Hebrews 13:17-18. So today we are going to learn how to pray for our pastors today.

You are wonderfully and fearfully made. The Bible says this in Psalms 139. It also says that we are the light of the world and a city built on a hill can not be hidden in Matthew 5. The truth is that God wants our uniqueness to shine for his name sake. He created us all different and for a specific purpose. We shouldn’t feel insecure about who we are or too timid to be ourselves when we go out in a group. God wants our light to shine wherever we go for his glory and he created us to allow our uniqueness to and our gifts to make a space for us in this world. Today we’re talking about letting our light shine.

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you did or how you think of yourself. God chose you. He loves you and wants a relationship with you. We don’t need to do anything to earn his favour or to get in his good graces. He already chose us and because of this we are extremely precious to him. I hope by the end of this episode you can feel that God loves you and values you just as you are. Now let’s read some Bible verses together.

Kindness is an important character trait that is really hard to find in people. Recently I did something for someone else that showed kindness and my 5 year old son saw it and said “I’m giving you a sticker for showing kindness” and he walked over to me and put a sticker on my shirt. What my son did kind of inspired me to do this episode. When we are kind to others we show the love of Christ. Giving to other who can’t do something for themselves is what it’s all about. Let’s talk about it today.

We all have things that we are praying to God for.  Some of those things are needs. Some of those things are wants.  But what happens most of the time is that the answer to those prayers are not seen right away. Some of you may be praying for a new vehicle, house, new job or spouse and maybe you’ve been have waiting for a while.   There are others who are praying for more serious things like healing and food to eat and every day have to rely on God to just make it through that day.  Wherever on the spectrum of need vs want your prayer request is on, we have to look at a few verses and check our hearts to see if we are the ones that are blocking the answers to our prayers.  Like it says in Psalms 139, we are going to search our own hearts in this episode to see if there are any wicked ways found in us and repent and change by the end.  Let's jump in.
