President Biden made his first visit to the southwest border Sunday, in El Paso, Texas, on his way to Mexico City for summit meetings with North American leaders this week. He has meetings there with Mexican and Canadian leaders. Frequent Biden critic Texas Governor Greg Abbott called the President's visit 20 billion dollars and two years too late.
Members of the House of Representatives were finally sworn in early Saturday, after a 15th ballot finally made California Republican Kevin McCarthy House Speaker. McCarthy had to concede significant power compared to earlier speakers to secure the job, concessions that will slow House action on many issues over the next two years.
The MegaMillions lottery jackpot will be over a billion with a b dollars for tomorrow's drawing, after no winning ticket emerged in Friday night's drawing. Tomorrow's drawing is at 11pm eastern time. The cash option will be at least 568 million dollars. This will be the fifth largest lottery prize in US history.
The NFL wrapped its regular season Sunday, as the Detroit Lions knocked the Green Bay Packers out of the playoffs in Green Bay, 20-to-16. The Lions fell short themselves when the Seattle Seahawks beat the LA Rams in overtime.

Notre Dame men's and women's basketball both lost at North Carolina over the weekend. The men lost on Saturday, 81-to-64, and the women lost Sunday, 60-to-50.
