Maybe we're asleep but at least we aren't at the wheel because that would put us at serious risk of becoming a victim of Vinny's rampage. Coming at you is a vintage episode regarding some possibly questionable choices made by everyone's favorite handheld console manufacturer, Mike's golf game, GDQ or whatever, and some metaphysical hot takes with special guest Vince Deezelle from the game Wheelman.
Oh man! Did you miss us? We've been a little backed up over here (gross!) at SBHQ but we are happy to bring a little something to all you "nerds" out there that looked like "little freaks" and got "bullied" back in the school days (skool daze). We discuss several instances of being picked on as weirdo kids and Mike steers everyone off a cliff and into a canyon of embarrassment with a new installment of "Ko-talk-at-chu" [sic]. Tell your friends!
If there's anything we learned from watching cartoons growing up, it's that sometimes you just gotta cut loose and let go of all the heavy stuff. That's why we decided to have Peter Griffin on the Super Beet Podcast. We know what you're thinking, "But Peter Griffin's a cartoon". While we find it cute that you would assume that a cartoon character could never be a guest on a podcast, we'll humor your ignorance, if only for a second. while Peter Griffin may not have been behind the mic, so to speak, he was here in spirit. Now you see, anything is possible on the Super Beet Podcast.
As per the annual tradition, the big game thing happened and everyone is either excited, angry, or carrying on as if nothing has happened. To break the monotony of simply talking about the things that we saw, we each constructed a list of the 5 games that were shown at E3 that we're most excited about.
Incoming long boi! We had a bunch of stuff to cover for episode 12+1 (want to clarify that this isn't a bonus episode; we are simply adhering to the popular Hideaki Anno naming convention in order to avoid bad luck), and you can bet your shoes that we took our sweet time to cover all of it. With Dragon Quests 35th Anniversary, Sonic's 30th, Bernie's replaying of Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne HD, Mike's playing of Biomutant, and Bernie's latest online reddit argument, this episode is filled to the brim with two or three metric tons of content you never asked for.
Are you sick of games that put you in control of dad? God knows I am. Today, we take a look at a wayward twitter user's unhinged analysis of the introduction of Resident Evil 8's Lady Dimitrescu to the larger gaming sphere, and how this marks the beginning of what will be later revered as the "Momification of Games". Haters best move on, this is an episode for the real ones. We also unpack some childhood trauma, talk about the new Dark Souls of Pinnochio, and participate in another segment of "One Star" with Mike Arendt. Buckle up, it's going to be a rather slow and unremarkable ride, but why put your life at risk from the things that are out of your control? Click It or Ticket, buster.
Behold! Yield! And take heed! The winged harbinger hath awaketh and doth decreed the desecration of thou era of man. Witness, as thou kin turn to ash and transfer alow the ground thou once sought as strength and stability. Anon, thou must atone for thy ignorance, cast aside thou appetency for worldly wants, and beeseech thy blessings by thine own winged harbinger. Nay, march forward into the grand mouth of thine forebears, and face thine own destiny. The winged harbinger doth decreed! We also talk about Resident Evil 8, Gabe Newell's secrets, and sexy games.
We're all guilty of misreading titles from time to time. Whether it be reading Carcassonne as "Carcass Zone", Tomb Raider as "Tom Braider", or the unfortunate "Mario and Sonic at the Special Olympics", the results can range from mild confusion to utter hilarity. In our defense, some of us didn't have the opportunity or wisdom to further our education in a post-secondary context. Some might argue that because of this misfortune, we've decided to pursue other avenues that will inevitably lead to failure, such as starting another all-male gaming podcast. Despite this startling reality, we press forward into uncertainty with unwavering bravery, tackling uncomfortable and difficult topics such as playing Monster Hunter and our general consensus of Team Ico's games. Please, join us in this journey. It won't be easy, but it is through unity that we prevail.
With the advancement towards the social media wasteland that is the internet today, fandoms have entered a state of societal singularity. Fandoms have become larger and more accessible than ever before. On paper, this reads as a good thing. People are able to be more easily connected with other like minded individuals, and dialogues regarding their favorite characters should be as clear and frequent as ever. If this is the case, though, then why does it seem like so many fandoms are so toxic? Today, we delve into the all-encompassing receptacle of fandoms, scratch the surface of what it means to be a fan, and dive into the dark underbelly of obsessive fans. Heck, maybe we confess some of the things we are obsessive of ourselves (Hint: It may, or may not be Dark Souls).
Half-Life, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, Portal, Counter Strike. What do all these franchises have in common? They're all developed and published by a company whose president is a deranged megalomaniac named Gabe Newell. As resident Half-Life fan, Mike has taken on the heavy burden of exposing Valve, a company that's responsible for some of the greatest atrocities of the new millennia. Join us on our journey to enlighten the masses on just how deranged these game developers are in Episode 8 of the Super Beet podcast*.
*This description was made in jest, Valve, please don't sue us; we love your games.
