The FrightFest treats continue to keep us occupied this month as we are back to discuss perhaps the marque film from this year's festival. Fresh off its World Premiere it has surprisingly arrived on UK bluray just in time for Halloween. We had an interesting discussion on this film with one of us having seen the original and the other has not so maybe we’ll have different opinions for once. We also discuss the 80’s horror documentary In Search of Darkness which is now complete after we had some producers on the show to talk about the project last year when they were in pre-production. Did they deliver the heavy task of making the definitive 80’s horror documentary? We give our verdict.

Fresh off the back of two shows last week we are back again to discuss yet another Stephen King film in 2019. This time we see Netflix try their hand again at adapting a novella also co written by the incredible Joe Hill in the form of In the Tall Grass. Also starring one of our favourite actors; we were very excited to see if this film can continue the mostly fantastic trend of recent adaptations. Elsewhere this week; a potential final Hype Train update as 3 From Hell is now available worldwide! Crazy to think after all this time the film is now out in the wild for everyone to enjoy. Two of our favourite films at this year’s FrightFest get release dates. Doctor Sleep gets a meaty run time. And to close out the show; Mike has finally finished his somewhat psychotic odyssey to watch all of the Puppet Master films. Was it worth it? You already know the answer to that question.

We are back with another show this week which is something of a Shudder special. October is so jam-packed with releases that we decided to bring you a double bill episode this week. We kick things off with Ready or Not which after getting shown at this year’s FrightFest finally gets a wider UK release. After getting pretty good buzz overseas we were excited to check out this 18 rated film which is rather strangely released by Disney. After that we take a moment to discuss something slightly different in the form of the latest DC release. We wanted to discuss this for the show because having now watched the film we were surprised just how much of a horror film it was and would like to let our listeners know about it who don’t traditionally watch this genre of film; you may want to put this film on your immediate radar. To end this show we discuss American Horror Story:1984 as we have now both seen the season premiere and whether it’s what we want from the show going forward.

To beat the post FrightFest blues we are back with a little film that just so happens to be the follow up to our number one film of 2017. IT: Chapter Two is finally here and to say we’re excited certainly is an understatement. We dive into everything about this sequel such as how it compares to the previous film, differences from the book, crazy horror setpieces and one of the finest casts in the history of the genre. Elsewhere this week; the SHB Hype Train gets a sizable update as we may have a UK bluray release date for 3 From Hell ahead of it’s US premiere next week. There’s an update to the ongoing saga surrounding the extended director’s cut of Midsommar. And ending the show Matt highly recommends a Netflix show that just returned and Mike continues into the abyss known as the many Puppet Master sequels.

Sadly we have arrived at our final part of FrightFest coverage for another year. But we may have just saved the best till last. Starting this show with a bang we talk about Freaks; a film that is really hard to talk about without spoiling anything but we do our best. Next up is quite possibly the most insane, crazy messed up film we’ve ever covered for the show. Seriously, it’s mad. And our final film discussion is a World Premiere of certainly the most British film we saw at this year’s festival. Films Covered: Haunt, Red Letter Day, Knives and Skin, Sadistic Intentions

Continuing our coverage of FrightFest 2019 we are now on to the Friday in which we saw 6 films and we certainly have a whole range of different films to cover today. The day kicked off with easily one of our most anticipated films of the festival as the writers of A Quiet Place are back and this time they're also in the director’s chair. Followed shortly by an indie film with a cool premise that certainly evoked The Purge vibes. Next up was a film described as “not a horror film” in the intro which is always good to hear at a horror festival. And rounding out this episode is a film about a twisted romance with some metal music thrown in for good measure. There will be one more part to follow covering the last 3 films we saw.
