Super Nerd Pals

KHAOS 23: Kingdom Hearts and a Big Nice Grab Bag

Episode 23 of Kingdom Hearts and Other Stuff reunites me with one of my best friends from the years I lived in Toronto: my buddy John Lebow, known to many as Big Nice John. He doesn't have a particular topic in mind, so we mostly just shoot the breeze. Somewhere in there we discuss Zachary Levi's roles in Shazam and Kingdom Hearts III, compare Kingdom Hearts Union's Deep Dive stream to John's want to stream the Witcher series from the start, and share with each other how wrestling (for John) and Kingdom Hearts (for me) have resonated with us emotionally over the years. The chatter is all over the place, and it's absolutely delightful.

You can find John on Twitter, @BigNiceJohn.

You can also find me, your host, @zacharyplyons.

Special thanks to Project Destati for our theme music. Find more of their music at projectdestati.bandcamp.com.

No video game is perfect. Following two episodes of essentially fan-boying all over this game, in episode 3 Zak and Andy get some gripes off their chest and talk about several aspects of Pokémon Snap that could have been improved, or maybe just shouldn't have even been there in the first place.

Special thanks to Jen Cappelli (@JeninRGB on Twitter) for creating the show's artwork, Allissoon Lockhart (@celtictampon on Instagram) for allowing the use of her cover of "Professor Oak's Lab" for our intro, and Michael Foxx (ambassadorfoxx on Bandcamp) for the use of his cover of "Course Selection" for our outro.

Episode 2 of Wonderful! A Celebration of Pokemon Snap is here! Andy and I wax nostalgic on our first memories with the game, and reminisce about the days when we could print out our own in-game pictures at a Blockbuster/Pokemon Snap sticker kiosk. Rest in peace, Blockbuster Video.

Hey friends! In episode 22 of Kingdom Hearts and Other Stuff, Robert from way back in episode 6 returns with his official breakdown and review of his first ever playthrough of the first Kingdom Hearts game. He enjoyed it enough to carry on with Chain of Memories next, but you'll have to listen to see what his favorite and least favorite points were.

Thanks as always to Project Destati for our intro and outro music. Check them out at projectdestati.bandcamp.com.

In episode 21 of Kingdom Hearts and Other Stuff, I'm joined by a chap by the name of Andrew Hankinson. Since the beginning of 2019 Andrew has been working diligently on a personal project related to Kingdom Hearts: Kingdom Hearts III Monopoly. His attention to detail with the game is incredible, and here we discuss everything to do with his vison for the game: the unique mechanics he's introducing, reasons for specific tile placements, the awesome 3D-printed tokens he's making, the potential to pitch the game to the companies who might be able to make it a reality, and a lot more! Find Andrew on Twitter, @HankinsonAndrew, and check out his latest progress on the game by searching for the hashtag #KH3Monopoly.

Special thanks to Project Destati for our beautiful theme music! Check out more of their music at projectdestati.bandcamp.com!

If you haven't finished the game and seen the secret ending, probably best to bookmark this episode for later.
