I have written recently and co-authored a book with Mark Victor Hansen, the 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' guy. And if you will go to www.auntmitzi.com, I have several free chapters of the book that we wrote together 'How to be UP in Down Times'
    Summary:
Author, speaker, and businesswoman Mitzi Perdue holds a BA with honors from Harvard University and an MPA from  George Washington University.  She is a past president of the 35,000-member American Agri-Women, and she’s the founder of CERES Farms. Mitzi combines the experiences of three long-time family businesses.
Her father Ernest Henderson co-founded the Sheraton Hotel Chain and her late husband Frank Perdue was the second generation in the poultry company that today operates in more than 50 countries.
Recently she authored "How to Make Your Family Business Last, Techniques, Advice, Checklists, and Resources for Keeping the Family Business in the Family. The 46 years since the founding of Ceres Farms, she represents more than three centuries of family business history.
Here are the highlights of this episode:
2:51 Mitzi’s ideal Client: My ideal client is a family who is in a family business and who would really like to see the next generation not get screwed up. Because it's so easy for family businesses to not put their enough effort, and having their children grow up with values that will help support keeping the family business in the family.
3:26Problem Mitzi helps solve: I have observed that every family that exists has a culture; but is one that came about by accident or is it one that came about by design? And the one's that came about by accident, they rarely support keeping the family business in the family. So, I help develop a culture that supports keeping the family strong and thriving.
4:19Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Mitzi: A high functioning family which is what we are all in for, is one where people enjoy being all together. They're partners, they're not torn apart by jealousy and ego. If your family is experiencing pain, my best advice to you is to get professional help before it gets worse. My second best advice is, if you're going to have outsiders to help you, have them committed to helping the whole family, not just one or two members. And what I mean by that is, families fall apart when a lawyer represents one family member against the interest of the whole family. So, don't do that.
5:19What are some of the common mistakes that folks make before finding Mitzi and his solution: The biggest thing that they can do to help keep the family together is be very conscious of the culture you develop, including  teaching the kids from the youngest age that they can't always be right. How about teaching them that they are a part of something bigger than themselves, that they're stewards. If you don't do that, the average families aren't going to make it to the next generation. If you want a successful long-lasting family, you've got to consciously figure out the values that will get you there and I certainly recommend that you buy my books to help you learn.
6:19Mitzi’s Valuable Free Action (VFA): This may sound off-brand but you know what really helps families? have you come across 'How to Win Friends and Influence People'? It tells you an enormous amount about human relations that shows you that you are part of something bigger than yourself that helps solve problems and prevent problems before they escape. Both the Henderson and the Perdue (family) regularly read a book that was written generations ag...

He’s advised corporate titans, authored several textbooks, taught at and advised universities around the world, spoken at TEDx, and published in Forbes as a digital health thought leader.
Here are the highlights of this episode:
Dr. Tamer told us that his ideal clients are business owners in which he helps them scale or grow further their businesses. It comes to a point where these folks feel overwhelmed, overwork and stressed out in making decisions, what's the next step, or what it is that's not working in their system. He sees that a lot of us gets stuck on our daily routine task of what we need to achieve in a day. There's no focus, strategy or long-term destination in the business. And based from Dr. Tamer's own experience, he and his team know exactly how to help these people. He explains that there is a disconnect between what we're doing today and what we're dreaming, so he helps them connect that. And the way to work that is to really to work backwards; work 'top down' not down to top.
Dr Tamer’s Valuable Free Action (VFA): He said to set aside a time for ourselves per day; really book a time for ourselves or become our own clients. Sit down and create a timetable and think of their business strategically and what's the end destination. Most importantly, is to do this by working from 'top down' not 'down up'.

Here are the highlights of this episode:2:02 Brenda’s ideal Client: I got 3 audiences; one audience I work specifically with HR Professionals who's trying to figure out their HR function. Either may or may not have had education, at the beginning stages of their career, and they're trying to earn that trajectory upward. The next is government contracting; I do a lot of government HR compliance. So, government contractors who love to speak to them. Also, entrepreneurs who're just getting started; either they just hired their first employee or about to hire their first employee and we make sure to set them off in the right direction.2:45 Problem Brenda helps solve: They don't know where to go and they don't know where to look for. They do things thinking that they're engaging in a specific business direction but it turns out that they're actually implementing the wrong thing. They could be under the impression that they need to have an employment agreement because they thought that they have to but it turns out that they are giving employment agreements to frontline employees which you wouldn't want that to happen in any way. A lot of it is innocent.3:32 Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Brenda: They hit a wall to where they feel really bad about the decisions that they're making. It's ideal that they reach out and pick the phone up before they actually get to that. Because at that point, they beat themselves down so bad that it takes a lot to help pick them back up and make them realize that it's an easy mistake to fix. There's a lot of easy things to fix in HR, there's a little that we can't fix to be honest with you except death, that's the only thing I can't reverse. Other than that, we can always turn things around.4:16 What are some of the common mistakes that folks make before finding Brenda and her solution: Well, they go to the first 6 lines of google HR and they don't get the accurate information. They rely on very short answers, they might ask questions on open groups like Facebook or something like that. And they're not really addressing the matter nor really pulling up that critical level of thinking. And so, they're only going to get the kind of response to questions that they're asking for, the quality of the questions is equally insufficient as the information that they're sourcing.5:00 Brenda’s Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Actually, on my website brendathehrlady.com, there's two places where you can get free assessment. You can actually see what kind of gap exists in your HR infrastructure. The first one is just on the main page and that's just a regular HR assessment.
