Reigning 2021 NRL SuperCoach champion Tim Moodie (@TheSCLurker) joins Catfish and Joe Fitz to review the first taste of football in months. We highlight some of the key takeaways from the Broncos v Seagulls and the Indigenous v Maori Allstars game as well.

As always there's some interesting strategy chat including looking at how making decisions based on or against your gut feel can impact your decision-making long term. We look at when you should back your gut over the cheapies or the popular choices, and also discuss the captaincy in the early season.

Bear is back! His first hit-up of 2022 this episode as he joins Catfish and Joe Fitz to dissect the changes that have been revealed to us after the official launch of NRL SuperCoach for 2022. Lots of great tweaks including obviously the higher trade numbers and the trade boost, as well as other benefits for the Draft side of the game. 

We also tackle some of the more strategic questions thrown up via our Champs in our Champs discord - looking at whether we need to prioritise our salary cap usage differently in light of the scoring trends from the past two seasons, and look at whether there is any increased need for depth in this current COVID-19 environment. We also have a discussion about whether or not there will actually be much of an impact to NRL scoring (and hence NRL SuperCoach scoring) with the slight adjustment to the six again rule.

Catfish and Joe Fitz are back for part 2 of this important topic, and they're joined by reigning 2021 NRL SuperCoach champion Tim Moodie to look through which players jump out as either overpriced, or more importantly, underpriced, coming into the 2022 season. This might be due to discounts applied due to the number of games played, or a significant change in role, bench or injury-affected games, or perhaps it's due to potentially unsustainable levels of output and regression to the mean is inevitable.

It's the halfback, five eighth, centre/wing and fullback positions this time and there are are some spicy takes from early on. Catfish drops his first spicy prediction of 2022, Joe Fitz spends way too long talking about multiple Bulldogs' players, and Tim Moodie swings from starting with Turbo to reverting back to not starting with Turbo - all within one podcast episode!
