State leaders have renewed Petal's 3% tax on restaurants, bars, and lodging. Petal Mayor Tony Ducker told WDAM the tax brought in around $1.4 million in 2024, which has allowed them to keep their commitment to the recreation department.

According to the Mississippi Development Authority, in the past year, Mississippi exports to Canada totaled more than $2 billion and supported more than 4,000 jobs. The MDA is inviting Mississippi business owners interested in exporting goods and services to Canada to participate in the 17th annual Southeastern United States-Canadian Provinces Alliance Business Forum. The event will be held June 8-10 at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
